I remember my best friend bought that exact model in early 2001. He had it for about 4 years and sold it to me for a couple hundred dollars. It was the best laptop I ever had and I had it for maybe 7-8 years. After that I wound up selling it to someone who needed a laptop, but it was still Rock solid and I still kept Windows 2,000 on it which was at the time what we were using at our business place. Thanks for the awesome video. Brings back a lot of good memories. Thank you and God bless you

For us auto owners. Could be so many things. Pressure switches (2) common on 04/05's, ATF fluid, neglected tranny, bad torque converter, too much/little trans fluid, abuse; lots of city driving/blazing hot areas/spirited driving. If it's just your torque converter you could just get it rebuilt beefier for $600-800 instead of replacement. Longer life as heat is what kills trannys.

It was just a simple cut and splice of the original connector. Used a multimeter check continuity to the power button. I know the pinout is available somewhere but it has been about 5 years since I did it

I have two of them, they are beautiful machines. I used one to stream movies to Apple TV when that was a thing, and I used it to play HD movies, which it can do in 1080p. That was 2011. Now I cannot do anything with it. No internet browsers work very well in 10.5.8. It is still good for booting OS9 for use with old games and super old, but still useful programs. It really cannot do anything at all anymore.

The best thing you can do with this car is buff the paint and take off the front and rear bumper other wise no one will care the condition but will just be excited about the car itself and the age of it
@appleontheapex2 ай бұрын
I'll probably try buffing it when the weather is a little better. The trunk lid might come back but not sure about the hood because the paint is a little cracked. I think a really good wash of the whole car and a vacuuming will make it look SO much better over all that the faded paint will just add character. Very happy to own and drive it regardless of paint!

I had a 1.42 eMac and a 1.25 and like you I've never seen one iwth a loud drive. The rattly speaker is sometimes caused by degradation of the foam surround that supports the cone and you can actually get replacement foam surrounds for them and repair them, the iMacs suffer the same issue. Shame about the G3 AIO, I'd imagine it was stored in a damp environment.
@appleontheapex3 ай бұрын
About half of my iMacs are suffering from the same speaker issues :( Some are looking moldy and sticky too. Ages ago I bought replacement speakers that fit but they never sounded quite as good. Hopefully I can at least get the AIO to come apart to at least evaluate it. It definitely looks like it got leaked on so probably a damp garage or something.
@ashleycox4323 ай бұрын
@@appleontheapex The foam turns to a sticky residue when it breaks down. You can clean it up with careful application of acetone. New foam surrounds are cheap and the job is easy to do, glue the surround to the cone first, let it dry, then glue it to the frame and before it dries make sure the cone moves in and out freely without rubbing.

The PowerMac6500 I bought used in 1998 was my first mac. Here in Germany it's was an affordable mid range Mac. Has both, SCSI and IDE - but the IDE-bus only could adress one drive. Maxed it out with a sonnet g3/500, 128 MB RAM, a comm Slot II network Card, an internal SCSI drive and a usb/fw combo Card. I also played with LinuxPPC, but as the performa had a logic board issue it went to trash around 2005 . It was followed by a used G3DT which i maxed out with a G4/800 and 768 MB RAM and MacOS10.4. The G3DT is still running and was my daily driver until 2009.

Hey I doubt anyone will respond to this comment but as someone new to retro TV collecting I picked up one of these in really good condition but it does not have an external antenna and the main antenna for it I don’t have as far as I can see but what weirds me out is where the main antenna would be is a silver cap if that makes any sense so I have no access to that whole I don’t know if that was a particular option with the TV because it looks intentional like by manufacturing I’m tempted to take it apart and see if I can get that out so I can get a antenna for it off of eBay but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea I would like to get an external turn off for it but I don’t know what type of port that is for the external antenna so I don’t know what type of external antenna I would need to plug into it if you know please let me know
