The early nineties must have been something special with two brilliant recordings of this Bach masterpiece. I can’t make up my mind between this and the Max Cencic recording. I don’t know what timing Bach set in this Cantata but this is almost a full minute faster than the Cencic recording. Brilliant recordings both.

What a wonderful voice and performance. The choir was blessed to have him at that time. Terry was and is magnificent.

Terry made the choir the best in the world. It has lost its luster without him and his brother. The choir always had class, and I hope that that class can return. Now, they seem to perform to modern lower-class tastes. The choir r is wonderful now, but they could be more wonderful if they returned to their classical roots.

Reading Mattbod’s comments, I had just listened to Lucia Popp singing this. As superb as she is, comparing Cencic’s recording, I totally agree that boy’s voices when we’ll trained as Cencic’s is, the female soprano can rarely equal the Treble(Boy soprano) voice.
