To torture a DBZ metaphor into this Pokemon discussion: i feel like the whole Mega/Z-Moves/Dynamax Discussion is similar to the reason more people know about and like/are excited about the Super Saiyan transformations then individual Special moves or whatever that big monkey thing was called, its just cooler to see a whole new form to your favorite where they go "above and beyond" rather then seeing them do a Z move or Dynamax. I get why they retired it, regional Forms do what Megas were meant to do better but i am still very excited that they are bringing it back

Likely been said before ages ago but I still feel like talking because. Why not. I feel like a lot of issues with megas are consequences of them being the first gimmick. The lack of pokemon that got them, the hurt to competitive gaming, the chosen pokemon getting megas being popular to drum up hype for a new idea that otherwise could've flopped HARD without the big popular ones to carry it. Well- the last one could still VERY reasonably happen, but the general idea is if megas were *introduced* in today's world of pokemon with the other gimmicks being the same as they are I believe many of the issues with them could've been resolved. But that's just not how the world ended up, and we can't really do anything to change it. ZA is a legends game, which likely means no online battling, so how about we all just sit back, relax, and enjoy the flashy super-sayan pokemon coming back for likely one last hurrah?
