Saw an article where Lou Reed said Townsend & DBowie were " talentless"...no Lou that's you & fellow NY overhyped Patty Smythe. Pete is an excellent songwriter

Neither Pete nor Roger are hitting the high notes and Roger's off-key starting the middle section...age takes its toll!

NO ONE gets this: Pete doesn't like slit skirts. He see's them as antithetical to romance. So while Pete is lamenting a fading relationship, he's also praising Jeanie for not being immodest. "Jeanie wouldn't dare wear those slit skirts" "Jeanie wouldn't be caught dead in no split skirt" Another words Pete wants romance and he see's split skirts as a sign of modern wo-MEN'S immodesty and something that's against romance. ANYONE?

A problematic subject matter in this day and age. Songs like this should rightly be consigned to history. This is not art, it is perversion.

American Idol poseurs learn up! This is how the real artists land on their feet when ‘forgetting’ the words… keep it moving, don’t panic! Pete T. putting on a clinic. Master class people! ❤p.s. this performance of Slit Skirts unfortunately didn’t make it onto the VHS release in 1986. Not sure how it made it to KZbin but thank you 🙏

At 34 he was writing about getting old. I guess he had been through a lot by that point. The lyrics didn't resonate with me until late 40's.
