My college marching band played an arrangement of this about thirty years ago. I never knew it was from this song and never heard of the band. I haven't picked up my bass in a long time. This has motivated me to get it out and start learning parts of it this weekend. Thanks!

As Greg pointed out, the recording is about half a semitone lower than standard key. I am guessing that Bonnie played the recording much faster based on live recordings from that time period and the producer, Don Was, had them slow it down when Doug Sax remastered the tape at Mastersound.. To my ear, the pitch seems to wobble a bit before the first verse. The recording is 103 BPM and I am guessing the original was 107 BPM. Hardly worth the effort. ProTools came out shortly after Bonnie recorded the song in 1991 and Doug had a small fortune in tape machines, so I am guessing it was tape.

Interesting. I wonder if there's any way to verify this?

This was awesome! This era of Chicago was all about the late great Terry Kath which makes you not really notice the great bass playing of Peter. Is this note for note what he was playing? As a bassist what made me look further into his playing was "Street Player". He really tore it up on that song. Think you could funk that one up? 😁

Great transcription, thanks. When I was living in San Jose, CA, I used to go to Poor House Bistro, a New Orleans-themed old house with live blues. One evening the talk was Elvin Bishop was going to sit in. Low and behold, when second set started, here walks up Mr. Bishop in his bib overalls and red well-worn ES-345. He sat down and played for the whole set. It was wonderful.
