Hello :)
This is the requested transcription I did of the McFadden & Whitehead song "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" from their 1979 album "McFadden & Whitehead". The bass player on this track was Jimmy Williams. This transcription can be found at www.muzento.com under Advanced - Songs.
I did a classic silly mistake with this song...I practiced it with a wrong note! I'd done 2 takes this morning and while I was putting the audio and video together I heard a "B natural" instead of a "B Flat" just before the Cm chord. I went back and checked and sure enough...it was B natural :( I got lucky this time and it wasn't too difficult to transition over, but it can be a real drag if you have to change fingerings or position...never to old keep making mistakes :)
This is a pretty difficult line to play just a single time, but you have to play it many times throughout the song. I had to build up my endurance. I did it in the classic and obvious ways. Slowed it down, built up the tempo, looped the problem spots and tried it in different positions.
A found a couple of things that really helped the line come together. 1) try and play the Ab - F lick starting with the first finger, and 2) slur the Eb into beat 4 of the Fm7 when the 4 16th note lick happens.
Pay attention to note length and try to stay on top of the beat. This one is a handful...but I hope you enjoy it :)
Don't forget to like and subscribe and thanks for watching :)
