@@Macburton96 interesting. I’ve just heard those adapter plates for the LS 4150 style manifold to the LT heads kill flow. What was your previous setup?
@Macburton96Ай бұрын
@@morganpowell2999 previous setup was summit stage 4 cam, 799 heads, single plane intake and same quick fuel carb in the video, the plates might kill flow a bit, back then if I was smarter I should have gone with the LS7 to LT plates instead of ls3, the ports are more evenly matched, but I haven’t had this setup it a while it’s an old video
@morganpowell2999Ай бұрын
@@Macburton96 nice, I figured I’d ask how the power was because I know flow numbers aren’t always indicative of power. That’s pretty good if it was up from that previous setup.
@Macburton96Ай бұрын
@@morganpowell2999 I never dyno’d that setup, both cams were almost identical in spec, from the seat of my pants there was a significant difference, the LT heads flowed better and they were L83 heads with 56cc chambers, I had done some home porting on them and the bump in compression helped too

I am located in Ontario Canada between Ottawa and Montreal, I do it mostly for a hobby. @Macburton962 ай бұрын
I’m gonna be honest I’ve never actually taken it out to a Dyno to have it checked, after I did my original Lr T head swap Brian Tooley came out with a stage four camshaft specifically made for this type of swap. I ended up talking back-and-forth with him a lot, and we still do talk every now and then I told him the specs of my build and he told me with a proper tune and if I can get it up to 8 PSI, I should be making around the 1k hp mark, and I usually run about 8.5-9 psi so I should be somewhere around that general area

I’ll tell you another issue. The shaft for the primary blades will bind. The return spring is very lame and will allow the blades to stay slightly open. At idle it will think it’s lean and add a ton of fuel. That wipes out the crappy o2 sensor. Just figured I’d share a problem I had. I added a strong return spring and problem solved.

You can use the same sd card, just pop it in the computer, format it and it’s clean you can start over, sometimes when people download new updates and don’t take off the old one, the hand held may flash one firmware and the ecu could flash another

Got a weird one for you. Driving along car shuts off. No power out of term. No fuel pumps nothing. Unhook the battery for a couple hours. Hook it back up and the car starts and runs for a minute or 2 then shuts off and dead term again. Think it's a software issue or is the term just kicking the bucket on me?
@Macburton964 ай бұрын
It sounds like you might have a bad grounding issue somewhere I had to deal with this with my cousins Truck and one of my neighbours car. They had a ground running from the battery to the engine block, but nothing from the engine to the frame and it wouldn’t charge the battery Properly it would seem to run all right and then all the sudden the battery would die and then you let it sit for minute and it would start right up and it was wiping the tune so it would kill the fuel pump and the fans maybe go through all your power/ grounding wires and make sure everything is good

This got me wondering if the other way around (LT block with LS heads) is possible. Specifically, the L8T block with LS3 heads.
@Macburton966 ай бұрын
Suppose you could, wouldn’t be able to use the direct injection, and you’d need to remove the fuel lobe and line up the accessories
@Roddy_Zeh6 ай бұрын
@@Macburton96 Yes, the main objective would be to ditch the direct injection and use the LS3's indirect system. Unless it's possible to convert the LT heads to use said system. If it's easier than adapting LS heads...
@Macburton966 ай бұрын
So this video is actually quite old, since this I’ve done mpfi and then supercharged the engine, the LT heads are what is good about the engine, you can buy a plug kit to cap the direct injection holes and then get an LT style intake with port injection, or the other route is to get ICT adapter plate to go from an LT head to LS intake but all very do-able now, market is starting to fill up with options

So factory LT heads will bolt on an LS?? 🤯
@pmd77719697 ай бұрын
Why
@Macburton967 ай бұрын
That’s an easy one, 1: LT heads are comparable to the flow of LS7 heads, with home porting can exceed them 2: LT heads are popping up in junk yards, for 100-150 bucks get a set of heads and push rods 3: BTR LT Head Swap Cam to make it work is now available for 399.99 4: Mast Motorsports,BTR and Holley offer intakes to make this setup work from prices 650-950 Brain Tooley has shown with stock lt heads(no porting) on a LS3, His cam ( no flying cut required) and an intake made 625 hp So if you have a junk yard 6.0 or 6.2 you can make 600+ easy with room to grow for 1300 bucks….youd be full of your ass to do that with an Ls on that budget, and it only gets better the BTR cam is amazing under boost, after all this I picked up an lt4 supercharger dirt cheap and running 9.5 psi, 1000hp crank….. Sky’s the limit That’s Why

Now make a high pressure pump belt driven, and direct inject an LS!!!
@Macburton967 ай бұрын
It’s a cool concept, but I looked into it a little bit before I started this project, aeromotive makes fuel pump, but it only goes to 200psi, to make 2000-3000 psi need to try and find a small hydraulic pump and then you have the issue of super heated fuel and a pile of high-pressure lines running around your engine bay….the biggest reason I want to do this swap for best bang for your buck, the heads are a great head, despite most people saying they won’t move fuel well be cause they were designed to flow air…I bought these heads brand new but you can find them in scrap yards now easy, get a set of push rods and heads for 100 bucks, BTR cam for this swap and LT port injection intake, and for 1000 bucks (if that) little bit of elbow grease and your making as much power or more than some of the top aftermarket stuff
