My fourpenneth. You need to listen to studio versions before the live ones. Echoes. The great gig in the sky. Comfortably numb. Run like hell. These are ones that are sublime in the studio version.

You will Love 'THE BLUE' by David Gilmour (from one of his Solo Albums, not with Pink Floyd). Please hear the STUDIO version, its (off Davids Album 'On an Island'). Coming Back to Life, and THE BLUE, are my 2 fave Gtr Solos by Gilmour. Before These albums landed, my fave PF albums were the 70s era... Animals, Wish, Meddle, and Dark Side. But once Division Bell released it took my top PF spot, alongside Animals. Again, if you are moved that much by 'Coming back to life' Solos, then 'THE BLUE' is your next one to hear. Remember its by DavidGilmour, NOT PinkFloyd. Both those tracks are highly underated. In The Blue, he uses a Pitch Shifter, which takes the the notes higher than the fretboard can go, and bends them up into the 'Strat'osphere!

...and that is the greatest guitar solo in the history of mankind..... It is so hard to not close your eyes to live in the experience, but you simply CANNOT close your eyes for the light show. That STAGE was lit! Oh, and just to let you know..... That was NOT the finale...... YOu need to watch "Run like Hell".

When the backing vocals become the front stage.... I am convinced that in 200 years, when future man looks back at culture and art, this will be right up there with the greats like Beetnhoven, Chopin, Davinci... No one does this kind of vocals like Floyd.

After you are ready to check something new besides Floyd and Zeppelin, I suggest checking into MY favorite male vocalist of all time (Robert Plant and Chris Cornell are also in my top 3) which would be Freddie Mercury from Queen. If you want to get a feel for several of their songs at one listen, I HIGHLY suggest checking out their performance from the Live Aid benefit concert... wicely considered to be one of the bst live performances of all time. Or you could jump to the female vocalist side and dig on some Janis Joplin (I would suggest for a first listen, Ball and Chain from the Monterrey Pop Festival concert).

Since you already did the Great Gig in the Sky reaction, this is the list of backup singers on this tour in respect to that song: Sam Brown - first lead vocalist on "The Great Gig in the Sky", Durga McBroom - second lead vocalist on "The Great Gig in the Sky", Claudia Fontaine - third lead vocalist on "The Great Gig in the Sky"

The genre of music that PF is in has only one band in it. Only one other band comes close and that is Porcupine Tree. Airbag (from Norway) brings up a distant third.

Thanks for reacting to this gem that is nostly left ignored by most reactors. For me it‘s up on the list in the same league as „High hopes“, „Shine on you crazy diamond“ and „Comfortably numb“!

Love this song! A little point of song technique is using the "Call and Response technique! Which is when David sings a verse (the call) and the singers reply with their verse (the response)! And if you notice, when they sing, after the instrumental, they switch! The background singers do the Call and David replies, kinda cool, right? Now here's the history behind Call and Response. In Africa, eons ago, the Africans would form a work party, or paddling a boat, one person would lead the the song (the call) and the crew would follow with their part (the response)! So now ya know....😊 Enjoy their music, I have for the last 50+ years.......
