Great video has it been. Reliable I've got a similar set up but I'm trying to bypass the stock oil cooler completely and I'm using an oil cooler in line with a bypass filter as well as a check valve I found an oil cap with a fitting and I'm going to use a manual adjustable oil regulator valve that I can close the system off with if it causes issues or leaks I would love to know how the reliability of your truck was effected long term currently fighting high oil temps

I can’t believe I found this video after all this time searching!! You’re a life saver. Question, do you happen to know the thread pitch to that hole? I’d like to just get a barb fitting to run flexible transmission cooler hoses

heres a recent development for all stupid people like myself who have fucked up and bought into the 6.0 cancer on wheels: if you are fixin to pick an oil cooler fr your local Ford dealer, STOP, check the back of the cooler and make sure it does not say "China". if it does, walk away. that is not OEM, ford stopped making the cooler and is buying it from a chink aftermarket manufacturer slapping a ford logo on it. are you shocked that the same con men that made this joke of a truck are doing shit like this?!? 😂 im not.

I reputable local diesel shop said that him and other shops have better results with Dorman coolers than Ford coolers. Not one noted Doeman failure. Anyone hear the same thing?

I also remove mine like this after watching this video; but they wouldn’t come out this easily. I hated them up with my mapp torch, maybe like 30-60 seconds each, just until it started smoking good basically, and with a couple hit of the socket they came out. Local shop wanted to charge me $125 /hour for this job. They quoted me 4 hours. 😂😂😂😂 ooooookay buddy, …. I just did it myself. Thanks for the tip! 👍🏾

Good set up! However when the rubber hose inside the braided line become fatigued and your more than 100 miles away from home. It will blow like a bomb went off in your truck and it wil shoot 15 quarts of oil out all over your motor faster than you can spell Mississippi! Then your screwed and the motor shuts down. Then you will need to by pass this route, add ball shut off to make the problem easier to solve. Been there!!! BEST PLAN, buy the kit with everything needed! Larger hoses , remote location , etc. (Spend the money, you will be glad you did!)

I see these videos of coolant filtration and I see the videos telling people to install these. From what I've seen this does nothing worthwhile. The coolant has silica dissolved in the coolant and when the coolant is overheated or is overworked from age the coolant no longer holds that silica in solution. It precipitates out and clogs cooling fins in the oil cooler. I hope everyone agrees on that. The solution is to not filter out the problem it's to prevent it. Spend an extra 10$ and use a different coolant which contains no silica. Now the silica can't come out of the coolant and create a clog. The high mileage coolants used in heavy diesel equipment is designed to avoid this problem and does a better job of stopping cylinders and sleeves from pitting due to cavitation that happens when an engine is working hard and the coolant is very hot.

Old video but to clarify. The coolant passages are what are made larger in an "updated" cooler, not the oil passages. The coolant passages are the passages that clog, not the oil passages, so the coolant passages are made larger. The oil passages you were looking at between both the OEM and aftermarket are the same size, only the factory updated cooler was manufactured in a way where the entrance is exposed instead of shielded like the other two. The Update is in the plate spacing for the coolant side, the two pipes standing up on the cooler that uses a large o-ring are the coolant passages. Coolant goes in the front of the cooler from the water pump and out the back to the EGR cooler. So again the update is in the holes for the taller nipples on the cooler not in the holes you were looking in.

I'm late to the show. Factory 6.0 Ford filter for oil is a 20 Micron filter with 95% filtration rate. The idea behind a bypass filter is to use a filter that can filter out large soot particles the factory filter can't remove. To do this it's suggested to use a 1-3 micron absolute filtration filter. The Baldwin B-164 used in this video is a 15 Micron absolute filtration filter. While it's filtering the oil better than the factory filter, it's not good enough to remove the soot. As shown in this video a lot of flow is happening through the additional filter which can rob the engine of oil flow at Idle and high RPM. A bypass filter doesn't need large flow to work so it's a smart idea to install a flow restriction fitting somewhere in the bypass loop. Other than changing the filter and putting in a restriction and the metal braided lines being too close to the positive connection of the battery it looks like a well done Job.

get a oil cooler delete plate and a Air to oil cooler. no more oil cooler issues. also means you can run whatever coolant you feel like in the truck green purple blue pink. whatever floats your boat hell all of em if you want. given you don't have a EGR on the truck if you still have a EGR be mindful of it. and run good coolant.

The problem is your filter it's only a 23 micron. You need a filter that filters down to two microns. Otherwise you will not remove the soot from the oil.

People say 4hrs, but I would leave a whole Saturday in case you need to take trips to the auto part store for tools and if you need to stop you always have Sunday to finish. I did it in 2 days because I took a day, to take a part, and 1 to put back together. it didn’t seem like a big deal. After you change these bushings the car drives like new again 100% . You go from it sounding junky to new after you’re done.

You have to put a .030 reduction fitting in line somewhere in that loop or you'll take to much low oil pressure away from the engine and could potentially starve the bearings.
