Fantastic reel! I just love that I got to see this interview with George and Barbara. How wonderful to see two of Elvis’s good friends reminiscing about their past memories regarding their time with Elvis and his mother Gladys! Thank you so much!

Atte. JM

Yep 100%. I'm glad he was loyal and protective for a long time but he switched on Elvis and recorded his telephone conversation. Everyone here saying Red is a swell guy. Noooo.....he's not and I hope he regretted his part in that book til the day he died

Elvis was under the impression he chose his own songs to record, The Colonel would give him around 30 songs which Colonel had already got the publishing rights for and out of the 30 songs Elvis would go thru the tunes and pick around 12 for the album, in his mind that is him choosing the songs for the album, in reality the 12 were songs the Colonel had chose, Elvis only chose the songs he didn't record, all those good songs like Ghetto, Kentucky Rain, Suspicious minds later on were Elvis' sole choice, he wised up, still best artist/manager team in history.....They all did mostly right though, I can't see Bieber or Ed Sheeran having their own movie and still being played daily in 2074.

I used to see GK at the Kroger at Trinity Commons in Cordova. I must’ve run into him at least three times in the store, just pushing his grocery cart along. He was always gracious. It always felt strange to me. I don’t know why, George never was a rich man I guess, but I mean this is a guy who had an open door at Graceland or Elvis’s suite at the International. He was a radio icon in Memphis. Last time I saw him was at the same Kroger, but this time we were both filling up our cars out at the gas pumps. We for some reason talked about Steve Cropper for a couple of minutes, I think Steve was in the news for something about that time. Anyway, that was the last time I saw George. I was saddened to later hear of his passing. RIP GK. As for Jerry Lee, I missed my opportunity. He’d had a stroke a couple of years before he died, and was in rehab in the same facility as my mom. I’d see his wife Judith’s black Mercedes with license plate Killer7 out front some days, and I wanted to bring my mint Sun records 45 up to have him autograph it. I procrastinated until he was released and lost my opportunity.
