Nice work! Question, did filling the crack with the hard plastic result in any cracking after months of heat and cold?
@100dad72 ай бұрын
Hi. Good question. After 3 years, it still looks like it did at the end of the video. But I’ll note that it stays garaged when it’s not being used. I’m not sure if it would behave differently if it got constant sun. If it were outside a lot, I’d definitely use a sun shade in the windshield.

now that was one hell of a design and car....painted lime, yellow or orange or lime green ....all the colors i hate but really seemed to suit this car. Remember driving my friends one with two twin choke webbers and wide wheels plus small steering wheel....so rock solid on the road for the time it was insane.

No. It’s more like a rubber underbody coating. A rough texture but not sharp or harsh like underbody.

@100dad7 First bag you made me think of is mystery ranch district 24. Then knack pack series 1 which I own. Last is tom bihn synic or synapse 19/22/25/30L don't know exact sizes but they come in all sorts of sizes.

@100dad7 Also the new pioneer panda and pioneer duration backpacks. They are new and look like good dump pocket backpacks.

@@Nutsackfart Thanks! The Knack looks pretty appealing to me. A little pricey but probably more versatile than my current back. Very cool.
@Nutsackfart3 ай бұрын
@100dad7 I work in IT in an office environment. Everyone I know has a knack pack or a tom bihn backpack. The series 2 wasn't for me so that's why assume they still have the series 1 being sold on the website. I promise you will love it if you purchase it. It turns into a good small weekend back for travel with the expansion. They come in small, medium and large sizes. I think the medium is the sweet spot

I wont be looking forward to that job one day. I replaced the clutch switch and the new one looked the same, but had a new part number on it. After I replaced it and fiddled with the original for a bit I was getting constant good readings, so I kept it for insurance that I'll now never need it; Murphy's Law at work here.

I have tested this approach (ie with adhesion improver and rubberised undercoat) and found that it really shows up scratches - even light ones as they look lighter against the ruberised undercoat (even if there is black plastic underneath) - it looks ok to begin with but it will look worse before long. How is your car interior holding up?
@100dad73 ай бұрын
As of this writing it’s like new. No scratches or wear or peeling. FYI, it’s mostly garaged and I live in a relatively moderate climate.

Now that it’s been a couple years, I’m curious how the repair is holding up? I’ve been considering a similar repair, but just with the filler, not the melted plastic.
@100dad74 ай бұрын
So far so good. No changes in the dash at all since the day I finished it. No cracks, the texture still looks good. I’m pretty happy with the results. For full disclosure, the car is garaged, so it does not get exposed to much direct sunlight or temperature variation.

Excellent video. Easy to follow along with what you did and replicate. I have an older Audi with deteriorating "soft touch" panels that look terrible with many gouges in the paint and the plastic underneath is showing through. I didn't think to use rubberized undercoating but that's got to be better than Plasti-Dip because it has to be way more durable, and also has that "soft touch" type of rubbery feel.

My 987.1 has been acting funny ever since I installed a new stereo system so I'm going to have to pull that thing out and check that maybe a wire was exposed or something during install. but I'm starting to wonder about my starter anyway because the battery drain even when I have it charged fully up the starter seems to barely crank over and always starts when there's enough juice but it's sluggish. it's not snappy like your sounded right after you installed your new one

@100dad7 Жыл бұрын
Did you ever get this fixed? I did not have that symptom. I wonder if something is rebooting, or if you have a battery right on the edge of full charge. I’ve found that if you drop just 0.1V low, like to 12.4 you can suddenly have symptoms. Maybe if you are having some parasitic draw, you have just enough power during the reboot to crank?
