I’ve been telling people this for years. Shorter swing is more consistent. With some practice, you’ll start flushing it more often resulting in closer to the pin. This even works well when you are short sided because you can land it short and run it through the fringe so you don’t have to be as precise as a higher lofted cub. Whether pitching or chipping, slow that backswing down to create better tempo.

It's not that you are lifting your head, the head raising does happen, but that is being caused by your swing. So the head movement often isn't the problem, but another symptom of other swing problems. Usually it's because of weight transfer, you are trying to transfer weight from back foot to front as you come through, but you end up having to pull your lead shoulder up because your weight shift/bad timing had caused your low point to be off, that missed timing caused the shoulder to move, the shoulder causes your neck and head to move. This is where stack and tilt comes from.

Good analysis but I will quibble with your comment involving the left (leading) knee movement. Bending it forward allows your waist to also slant properly - the right hip is higher than your left hip at the top of the backswing vs your waist which is quite horizontal. The former leads to a more powerful swing. While your shoulders properly slant your hips are staying too straight - which is correct for a baseball player hitting a ball at waist level but not for a golfer hitting a ball off the turf. The master who analyzed all of this at an advanced level decades ago was Mike Austin. View some of his infamous vids while wearing a skeleton costume. At first I thought he was a clown. Until I delved deeper and came to the conclusion he was a genius. Austin was one of the longest hitters in history - often driving closer to 400 yards than any of our tour players today including DeChambeau. And mind shatteringly he did that with persimmon drivers and balata balls. With a swing that looked totally smooth and normal unlike DeChambeau and the competitive long driver oddballs.

You rarely fail to impress! I’m completely familiar with the shot that flies the green bc I took an extra club and crushed it. Unfortunately, I rarely crush it when using the right club. Will keep trying to back off when using the club called for. Interestingly, I came up with a new swing thought today. “If the wind is in my face swing easy, if the wind is at my back swing easy”

To me, bigger swings feel easier than small swings. I tend to chunk small swings more often. I feel like there's less time and less space to make good contact with a small swing. Do you have any tips for small swings?

Advanced Class 😊 Thanks Coach 😊❤ It's amazing when you do develop a good rhythm or timing, definitely by slowing the swing down it's possible to obtain an effortless golf swing I have injuries and it took me years to stop beating myself up in a game of golf ⛳ Quick question coach Can you do a video maybe on developing lag just asking😊😊😊😊

May i ask , at about 3.04 when your at the top, your lead weist or watch a person would wear is almost in top and above your trail elbow, i was a ohenominal ball striker with this , a great bowed lead ledt wrist and trapped the ball ao well Took about 6 months off and can no longer achieve this and dont feel i am loading the club shaft , wrist etc , like its to flat and perhaps Now its the opposite wihh a cupped lead wrist instead if bowed Alla dustin Johnson. So can rolling the forearms counter clockwise help create a more bowed lead wrist at the top

This is the BEST VIDEO I've seen in years that shows clearly pushing down with the left pad to get the wrist to cock and keep the left arm straight. I have a very stiff back as I was a body buider so no much flexibility when trying to have my back facing target... I'm going to give this a try ASAP on the range, there is hope, thank you so much.

Great drill. Crystal clear and concise explanation. Many thanks!
@Mike-t3p6y3 күн бұрын
while i like the basic swing thought, I would love this to be more concise. from the 2:00 minute mark you got sidetracked talking about the back swing and knees, bla bla bla, stay on point , which is the drill. I like the drill - the feeling of pushing the hands away is really just maintaining the width of the arms as they pull straight down. being able to pull down and maintain the wrist angles is the key. I whole heartedly agree the root cause is the overswing back and the cast vs hands off the back shoulder then learning how to pull down. I would love this video to be 3 -4 minutes , focus on the drill and the fact that there is NO quick fix for this one. It's not one range session it's probably months for most people.

On driver I'm not sure I'm getting the hinged wrist. Sounds like it is beginning the process of turning the wrists over, which completes one forearm over the other when the arms are in front of you. I can't imagine the driver being held in the closed position from the top of the B S to through impact. Thank you.

I was chunking the grass behind the ball on half of the holes I played at today. Very frustrating. I practiced during the week to keep the weight down on my left leg and when I remembered how I fixed this issue at the range I was then able to fix it like 6 holes later. Swaying really kills your ball striking and over swinging as well does it. I am a short person and my arms can’t extend like how a taller person does so I’m learning how to find my max swing without over-swinging too much.
