Hey Monica, Happy Holidays to you. So happy you are still focused on the trail and the magic it provides to offset the challenges you face. You are a rock star and watching your adventures makes me smile and warms my soul. I did a lot of backpacking when I was in high school and then in Oregon a few years ago. I have stuff going on in 2025, but in 2026, I am now planning on hiking the entire PCT with my cardiac service and adventure dog Trak’r! I just had both knees replaced, a neck fusion and in one month I’ll have a new shoulder. In 2025 I plan to hike around here in Asheville, NC. Then in 2026, I will be moving into an adventure RV and heading to Campo. Not sure where I’m parking my rig yet, but that’s the plan. Happy Trails and know that everyone, I’m sure, are all sending you positive karma love to help you make it down the trail!!! 💕

I use the SWD 50 L Long Haul and 70L Big Wild for most of my Backpacking trips and love them both. Would recommend them to anyone: Well worth the price and wait - they know what they are doing making the most robust, comfortable and modular UL backpacks out there IMO.

Looks like a great pack. What’s your opinion about this style vs. trampoline style packs?
@TheHikingChick12 ай бұрын
@chili1593 My Osprey Aura is trampoline style, part of why it's so comfortable as well as less back sweat. The Long Haul style carries closer to the back, which I feel is a bit better for posture. Trampoline style sits away from the back, causing a slight forward lean to compensate (and tight hip flexors). I won't know how I really feel about it until I get the Long Haul on trail more, but on my initial training hikes with it, I like the weight hugged to my back better. I hope that helps.😁
@chili15932 ай бұрын
@ very helpful thanks. I have both styles and understand your point. Will be interested to see how your experience is on trail. Did you check out any of the Durston packs? I love my Wapta and other than the warm back I forget I’m carrying it. I’m going to take a look at your pack though it looks awesome. Thanks again and happy hiking.
@TheHikingChick12 ай бұрын
@chili1593 Never tried the Durston packs. The Long Haul has a better max carry (40lbs) than most packs in the 2lb range.
@chili15932 ай бұрын
@ I know from experience fit is very individual. I use the Wapta as a day pack as I fish. I also have a couple of others for day hiking both larger and smaller heavier and lighter depending on the weather and what I’m carrying for contingencies rods etc. The 55L Kakwa is stated as being able to carry 45 lb max which is far more than I would want to burden myself for with as a weekend warrior for overnights and not a thru hiker so I was curious. I go where bear cans are required so I need the space. Keep us posted and again happy hiking!

It's not a difficult setup. I wasn't able to get out in it this year due to health issues, so I don't have any field experience to report on.
