Here in the states the really early model Mazdas/Rangers were pretty much identical then mid 80's - early 90's i believe they were completely different then once again they were extremely similar again with minor diferences they even shared the Explorer platform for awhile. hey, great video! I'm preparing to change the timing belt in my old (and first car) Ford Focus MK1 1.6 2004. I have watched your video and the other creators as well but there is one thing that I don't really get. In other videos I've seen a lady find the top position by inserting a screwdriver in the plug hole and by cranking the shaft she could see the screwdriver went top, but you haven't done it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but you used an old alignment, and when you spotted that the key is pointed up and that metal plate can be put inside the camshaft, you treated it as a top position? Or have you done sth else? Once again I like your videos, they are awesome! Greetingsfromm Poland
@Horus_Works
@Horus_Works 9 күн бұрын
Hey mate, your engine will be different to mine (2.0) so I'm not sure if this will help you, but when you insert that alignment tool into the engine, the engine goes to TDC and stops rotating - the tool is a restriction. Ford engineered it this way so that TDC is easy to find - that way you don't have to guess with a screwdriver in the spark plug hole - but that works too!

Hi mate, I'm attempting the water pump job on my Falcon, bought the toledo pulley removal kit and can't for the life of me get the water pump pulley off. It just won't budge. I don't know what the problem is as yours came off like butter
@Horus_Works
@Horus_Works 9 күн бұрын
Bugger, just seeing this now... hoping you solved it mate. it's definitely just pressed on, so as long as you have a hold of the metal sleeve on the pulley with the puller tool, don't be afraid to use some force... Mine came off easily, but I'm assuming that if there's any corrosion around that metal ring it might take a bit of force to get it started. That's all the help I can offer mate, hope you got there... 👍

Hey mate, appreciate you watching, and thanks for the comment. As far as I'm aware the seats in the RTV are exactly the same as mine (mine is also a 3 seat column shift), so the short answer is yes, they would fit, although if you're installing them out of a sedan, you will lose the flip-back function as this was only available on ute seats... hope that helps 👍

As a curious fact, in Focus MK1s with a Zetec engine, there is a high probability that this part will begin to drip water from the windshield channels. This is because these channels are the union of a plastic panel directly with the body without a joint in the middle, so over time that union opens and the water cascades behind the engine in that part. There is also a high possibility that by forcing that sensor to remove it, you will damage the tube connector with the pump, generating a leak further upstream.

@Horus_Works
@Horus_Works Ай бұрын
When I bought the car 4 years ago, I needed something cheap and reliable as a second car for shorter trips around the city. I would argue that the Mk1 is very reliable if well maintained, probably the most reliable of all Focuses. It's also fun to drive because it's the lightest Focus version, and economical on petrol so those are all wins. If you need it as a family car, I would actually recommend a newer, larger Focus, but if you just need a second car to get around in, the Mk1 is the choice I'd go for.
