I knew this was going to be a rough one. That's a commentary on the sad checkered history of the Robins and not a critique on the video which is a lot of fun. My one disappointment.. besides the over-saturation of bad writing in comics since the post-80's... is the omission of Jason Todd's original pre-Crisis origin which had been wiped away by the "reality altering shenanigans" of the Crisis and the post-Crisis reboot craze where all continuity was up for grabs. (God! I shudder to think what one of these videos would do with Hawkman!!)

Slight quibble: Alan didn't make the lantern from a meteor. An alchemist in ancient China made an oil lamp from the glowing green metal in the meteor, then much later a man in an insane asylum reshaped it into a train lantern. The man later gave the lantern to Alan Scott. The meteor uttered a prophecy into the minds of everyone who gathered around it when it had first fallen to Earth: "Three times shall I flame: First, to bring Death; Second, to bring Life; Third, to bring Power!" The first time it lit up was when a group of villagers killed the alchemist, suspecting him of working some evil plot by making the lantern -- the flames killed everyone their light touched. The second time, the train lantern lit up and restored the sanity of the man who reshaped it, allowing him to return to the life that he had lost. The third time, it granted power to Alan Scott, protecting him from the sabotage of his train that had plummeted from a destroyed bridge. The green meteor turned out to be the Starheart, which was the coalesced magical power of the Guardians, who had decided to devote themselves purely to science and order and to eschew magic and chaos. The Starheart compelled Alan to forge a ring and planted the idea of calling himself Green Lantern into his mind basically as a way of giving the Guardians the middle finger, saying "See, anything you can do, I can do better.".
