Seriously FUCK THE FRENCH! And whatever bellend decided to just fip the steering wheel. Even the bloody key hole for when the fob isn't working is on the wrong flipping side! Absolute wankers! I spent 1hr getting the screws out as they lose tension to find out I could yank the filter out but not bend it back around the pedals. Now I have to take out the clutch pedal...... I'll do it tomorrow, it's 8.30am and I only just got home two hr ago. Cheers for the vid though

Not a clue if you're still active, but did it hold up? My passenger side just broke today and was thinking about a similar fix. Also the two small plastic molded connections at the top have broken off. Was thinking to just ram a small screw in there as well. Thanks for the vid by the way!

It held up for a long time until the megane was sold and showed no signs of coming loose when I handed the keys to the new owner and heard nothing since. The main issue is that the actual handle connected to the door card is so flimsy. It’s not a very good design and most of the strength comes from the cover being connected to it. The reason I used screws is because they have a shallow head on them which allows the cover to be clipped over the top. If you use nuts and bolts, the head will be too big and you won’t be able to get the cover over. Your best bet is using screws which have a thread like a bolt and then a nut on the back. Would make a much neater job if it.

Yes you can but not without removing the airbag. The airbag has to come off first. You could probably squeeze it past but the tabs are so delicate that they will 100% break if you tried

Just seen this video, and i can confirm, absolute arse of a job.. It's not often im beaten, but had to give up, took everything out if the way, all trims etc, loosend clutch pedal, started to take hydolic pipe off, as said in a Haynes manual, but when fluid started leaking out, i gave up, and abandoned the job, put it all back together as didn't want a load of clutch fluid in the car, cant see how you get the pedal off without removing the pipe, megane convertible 3 2010, any suggestions? Thanks

You just need to remove the bolts and try and get it out of the way as much as possible. Even then, it’s a struggle. I’m sure it’s a doddle on a left hand drive car but didn’t have the foresight to put the cover on the other side for right hand drive models. They really didn’t care! I’ve even spoken to some Renault techs and even they admit that they don’t change them on services unless it’s creating a problem.

@@OliverReilly1 when my hands,arms,neck and back have healed, I'll give it another go, as I don't like to be beaten, especially as the filter is only £8.56 from Halfords, the other utube Haynes video, says to take the pipes off, but doesn't mention the fluid dripping out🤬 is there 3 or 4 nuts holding the pedal on, I could only see 3
@OliverReilly1

@@mikereeves7550 from memory, there’s 3 I think, but I’ve since sold the car so I can’t check. They’re all visible and none are hidden. I never disconnected the pedal. I kept it connected and moved it to allow enough room. You won’t create tonnes of space. An inch or 2 if that, but it makes it a little easier to do and get a screw driver in there. I purely left mine connected as I didn’t fancy having to bleed the system again and have fluid all on the carpets.

Mine's the same now - sloshy and fan stop working - Looks like a great video for me and others to fix the problem. I'm still bit scared as not very good at car repairs DIY and my worry is putting everything back together. This video is useful for me as one of my wiper arms is out of sync / bend and may get a 2nd hand one that I could fit myself - aided by this video first. A stupid design by Renault to have mechanism as the Slosh tray being easily clogged up and affecting electrics - like Fan.

@georgiosf.1223
@georgiosf.1223 Жыл бұрын
@@adamcapewell7806 I tried a lot of different extractors. The only one that actually worked for me was the "Thinkwork Impact Bolt Extractor Set, 13+1 Pieces Nut Removal Tool". I had to cut the iron out using an electric rotary cutter, to make space around the bolt's head. Then I hammered a socket from the toolset into the bolt's head and used a long torque wrench to get it moving. Regular wrench would not move it. I guess it helped that the bolt got hot while I was cutting the iron around the bolt's head. While waiting for the tools to be delivered, I sought for professional help. Long story short, everyone refused to deal with it. The garage advised going to a body work specialist and vice versa. I even went to a tyres replacement centre thinking that they would be dealing with broken bolts all the time, but they also suggested going to a garage. This was one of the hardest DIY I have ever done, certainly when it comes to my car.

Mine blocked up after 6 years of ownership and the chances of someone already doing it is slim. It’s always good to check to make sure it’s clear and free of debris. Also whilst you’re there, check the hoses in the bonnet for the windscreen jets. They could be rubbing causing a hole in the pipe or perished and could be dripping whilst parked up explaining the cleaning solution smell you have

Is there anything I should look for to avoid water inside the cabin?

Another way they can come in is through the door cards. Take the door card off and check the polystyrene membrane isn’t coming off or has holes in it. Re-stick it down and it will be fine then. Also check your door seal as this is another way it can get in.
