Try holding 2 weights in sling, tother u let swing as u throw & release as usual this might give u max spread as I know it helps me when I throw it traditionaly as a bola
@Gregg-o7jКүн бұрын
I shoot/ the peg and loop system and found that if u drill 🕳️ in back of dart & put in single feather, cut square, bout 2 inches will increase your range,aim& power! I even shoot 3. 4,6 foot darts 100. Paces/ a good wind at my back with tween 6,12 paces twee darts good shooting was impressive
@Gregg-o7jКүн бұрын
Pretty impressive,I shoot 4 to 6 foot arrows / 1,2 pound clay ball heads,/ good wind 100 paces. Now traditional fletching GAArBAGE!!!!! Yr not throwing hard enough 4 spin to matter It only slows dart. I found by cutting full feather bout 2 inches square backed & placed in hole centered in back of dart Increases range. I use the loop& single pin method / my sling. Just be careful with the first throw as u may really hurt yer shoulder. But once u get the Rite momentum swing u will be surprised u will double yer range I bet good shooting

This design is great! It almost avoids the drawbacks of all kinds of slings. I admire your science and engineering thinking. However, compared with the final version of the bullet pocket, I prefer the one with chamfers, the airflow should be more stable~ I also want to ask, how did you make the shape of the bullet pocket?
@revolverocelot633428 күн бұрын
That's a quite informative video on all the different designs, you really put together a lot of sources together in short format, I appreciate that, it's very helpful for starting further research! Do you also have similarly extensive knowledge of the single-armed onagers as well?
@Acroballistics28 күн бұрын
I've made a small one you see it in my short videos. The onager is a simpler design (tuning mainly arm length and sling length) it doesn't need spring tuning. But being simple doesn't mean it is easy to make and operate, it needs something to stop the momentum of the arm at every shot, and an arm that withstands the impact.
@revolverocelot633428 күн бұрын
@@Acroballistics Yeah, the hard impact of the arm sounds like a hurdle. Do you perhaps know if Romans produced any iconography showing it?

Absolutely fascinating 👏 I'm a novice slinger so much of this is unknown territory for me , your accuracy with these slings is remarkable 👌 . I noticed you don't whirl the slings like a helicopter, as so many do .Great content, thank you !

short of anything idk, 'exotic' copper might be best. more expensive than grinding them out of rebar of course. but copper is more dense than steel and rather more durable than lead. and still fairly readily castable. bodkin arrows are usually 4 sided pyramids, its said that having hard edges helps to focus energy and penetrate things better. though i dont know what if any affect that would have on the aerodynamics of a sling bullet.

rebar is so cheap to buy and easy to cut, I dont have patience to pour lead, and its more expensive, at least I havent found cheap source of lead. Although that high density is very tempting.

Classical people are not stupid that's what people tend to unimate them and tend to think they dumb what do you think that's why the British I don't think even America as high in the 1880s could never conquer people like this defeated the native Americans but I think what is thousands and thousands of lives more fighting these type of I think some point people severely weakened ourselves a certain aspect of even with firearms I don't think a civilization like this could be conquered not very easily the casualties would be immense tough for 1860s even 1870s army to fight these guys infantry

_"36 nails on each side"_ - that's counted wrong: There are 35 nails only (on each side) ... and one SCREW _"Nails are 0,5 mm apart"_ - that is wrong too: They are 5 mm or 0,5 cm apart - distance of the screw not mentioned yet (because that is not a _"nail"_ )
@gabrielmusk80712 ай бұрын
Incredible! At what distance could you consistently strike this sized target?
@Acroballistics2 ай бұрын
distance will depend on what you consider consistent. In modern balearic competitions they use 1.2 x 1.2 meter target at 13 and 20 meters and under competition conditions there are a lot of misses.
