Hello, thanks a lot for your videos, they are really useful! I would love to ask you: For what concerns the streets of the village, which island between this one and Fulhaddoo has a better vibe and less constructions going on? so an all around better "urban planning" :) Sometimes in some local islands people can be disappointed by constructions going on and general "mess", taller houses being built etc. Even though the most beautiful part of Maldives are surely beaches and water, I'd still love to ask your opinion on this topic
@Radek70016 күн бұрын
@@Devinitaly Hello. As you have noticed, the situation on the islands is changing very dynamically so a lot could have changed in a year. On Dhigurah and Fulhadhoo it looked similar. You could see construction starting in many places, but not on such a scale that it would interfere with enjoying what the Maldives has to offer. Access to the beaches was around the islands. Beautiful jungles. Sometimes you could even find places just for yourself there. The buildings are usually in the central part of the island, so when you are on the beach or in the palm forest you can't see them anyway. I think the situation is worse on the islands closer to Male. There are more tourists. It is easier and cheaper to get there. It is important to choose the right islands for yourself and visit them as soon as possible. When I was there, I heard voices saying that the peace that was there would not last long.

Me and my family visited Thoddoo last October. Beautiful island with very friendly people and our Guesthouse (Manta Stay) was excellent. The food we ate (mostly Foodland) was tasty too and we had a lot of fun with the Indonesian and Nepali waitresses ;-) Just the transfer was a bit bumpy!

Hello Radek. Great videos. I'm planning to travel to the Maldives. I can only stay on 1 island. I'm torn between Dhigurah and Fulhadhoo. I know they are both beautiful and each has its own particularities. I saw you met both of them. Could you please give your opinion by telling me which one has the whitest sand, bluest and calmest water? I know they both have beautiful waters. Are they the same in terms of water color, etc., or is there a winner? If you can also point out other differences between them, I would be grateful. Thank you very much.
@Radek7001Ай бұрын
@@gabriel.augusto It is very difficult to say which of these two islands to choose. As you wrote, both are beautiful and have what you mentioned in the best Maldivian version. If you get a sunny weather, on both you will see beautiful white sand and blue water. These are certainly some of the most beautiful local islands. I think the choice depends on individual preferences. That is why I made very detailed films about these islands, so that everyone can see for yourself and decide which one suits better. I think that neither of them will disappoint you. If you choose Fulhadhoo, you can also visit the two neighboring islands Fehendhoo and Goidhoo. They are very close to each other and the local ferry sails daily. The cost is about $ 3. It only sails for about 20 minutes. There is also a deserted island near Fulhadhoo, to which you can organize a trip with a picnic. On both islands you can buy a snorkeling trip with manta rays, but if you want to meet whale sharks, Digurah is the right place. Digurah is a very long and narrow island which has its charm and made a greater impression on me.

Pozdrawiam.
@Radek70013 ай бұрын
Jeśli znajdziesz innych chętnych, by podzielić koszty, to już wyjdzie całkiem tanio.

Quality footage providing the often overlooked perspective on the aftermath of such a substantial eruption which people have to live and deal with. While I will not and can not argue against the toll of this eruption to infrastructure and peoples lives there is also a sense of resilience of life here even if it is still early the indigenous plant life is already at work recolonizing the landscape. It serves as a reminder that we live on a dynamic planet which has formed with and in turn been shaped by life and vice versa. It is events like this which serve to remind us that our illusions of mastery over nature are mere delusions born of ignorance and lack of perspective of the timescales which Earth continues to evolve on. The Canary islands are all volcanic in origin a geologic oddity in that they are an archipelago of long active volcanoes fixed in place with geologically recent volcanic activity on all but one island but La Palma is the most active by far. Much of our world is situated on or around volcanic landscapes for the fertile soils and other natural resources they provide but there is always a price to pay when they awake from their seemingly long slumbers to humans despite them being a blink of an eye geologically speaking. There are many ticking time bombs like this so we can only hope plans are underway in affected regions to deal with the eventualities otherwise this kind of tragedy will only repeat. Aside from Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai which was thankfully moderated by the weight of the ocean water column it has been a long time since we have seen the fury of a truly large eruption of global consequences and thankfully no one lived on that now non-existent island though the effects of the Tsunami's generated by that event were also truly heartbreaking for the people of Tonga. I don't know if you have read about the archeological finds beneath the last VEI 7 eruption Tambora(1815) which showed the people of Sumbawa the island where Tambora is located were a fairly advanced highly developed culture civilization built on extensive agriculture and with goods preserved in the excavated town of ~10,000 showing they were part of an international trade network with goods from as far away as Vietnam which was erased along with an entire language family, the full extent will likely remain unknown as the thickness of the volcanoes eruptive products make excavation prohibitively expensive. I worry what we will do when the next eruption of that magnitude occurs.
@Radek70014 ай бұрын
@@Dragrath1 Yes. Another example from the past is the Greek island of Santorini. The explosion there about 3600 years ago was so strong that it could be heard 1000 km away. Almost the entire island collapsed. Only the edges remained. The tsunami waves could reach up to 200 meters and reached neighboring islands causing destruction there. Excavations are also being conducted there, which are proof of the existence of a very highly developed civilization at that time. Thank you for this comment which encourages to reflection.

Jeśli możesz to daj potem znać jaką Ty miałaś pogodę. Miłego pobytu życzę.
