If you're not bothered by "made in Switzerland" you can buy something made in China that will cost half as much and probably be better.
@the_watchgent5 күн бұрын
I'm not so sure about the probably be better part, but they are cheaper. Chinese watches are good for their price point.
@watchalot9195 күн бұрын
@@the_watchgent with all due respect they are better than that. I would put San Martin up against anything Tissot produce. They also produce parts for many high end Swiss watches. I have many Swiss made watches, including Rolex, Tudor, and Chris Ward, and the finishing on a good Chinese watch is as good

I bought the blue version before this as it was on a heavy discount. It was so good I bought the black dial and the green dial also. I love them to bits. Regulars in the rotation. All run about 5 - 6 sec a day on the wrist. Certina quoted me a service pre pandemic at 180£. Apparently they simply swap movements and send the old unit back to swatch for a recondition. Work guaranteed by Certina.

The movement can be regulated by any watchmaker really. Like other free sprung balance from Omega, Rolex etc. there are screws on two arms of the balance wheel to regulate it. You can spot the screws on pictures of the movement.

This is one Swiss made diver that really has caught my attention. The only other close to this price point would be the Hamilton dive watch that looks very similar.
@the_watchgentАй бұрын
Both Certina and Hamilton use the same powermatic 80 movement, I believe. Personally, I prefer the Certina, though, due to it having a ceramic bezel and micro adjustment on the claps.
@user-kp1es7to6zАй бұрын
I think 43mm is still alright for 6.5” wrist size. The green dial is an unusual green which is quite nice. The price range is reasonable for a Swiss made watch under the swatch’s group.❤

@the_watchgent3 ай бұрын
How did you find the bio ceramic material?
@thomasf15313 ай бұрын
@@the_watchgent It feels like a “premium” plastic and the cases are nicely moulded so there are no imperfections. The printed bezel felt cheap though. It is quite neat but to me it felt too much like a toy watch.
@dasnitz4 ай бұрын
I can pay $460AUD for a cheap plastic disposable watch with an uncomfortable bulbous strap that breaks after 2 years or i can pay $40AUD for a cheap plastic disposable watch uncomfortable bulbous strap that breaks after 2 years. This is one watch where the replica is far and away the better choice if you ignore the ethics of a little stealing from a 10 billion swiss franc company.

Good video, Thumbs up given. C-Ward all day every day! One of the most important feature when it comes to choosing a watch (for me) is beat rate. That being said, the fact that Certina lowers the beat rate of their Power 80 movement in order to achieve their higher power reserve, always puts them at a disatvantage in my opinion. I know what I'm about to say is probably a hot take and will have the Certina fan boys "At Me" but as far as I'm concerned the Power 80 is barely better than having a "standard" beat Seiko NH35A in their watches. (OPEN FIRE!)
@the_watchgent4 ай бұрын
The Nh35 is still a great movement, I do love the sweep of the Trident second hand over the Certina but the 80 hours power reserve is a great advantage. Personally, I find the stp 1-11 movement in my roamer a far better movement. Thanks for the thumbs up and glad you enjoyed the video.
@DarthPlaya4 ай бұрын
@@the_watchgent You have a valid point, well taken. For me, since I have a good number of watches in my rotation and almost never wear any one watch more than a day or two, power reserve is of little concern to me. i hope I'm not sounding like I'm poo pooing the NH35, it's in some of my most loved watches, and a reliable workhorse. But for me high beat rate is king!
@the_watchgent4 ай бұрын
@DarthPlaya everyone is going to have a different opinion on their tastes, this is what makes watch collecting great. there is so much variety. The sweep of a high beat moment is great and definitely ad's class to a watch. I'm not bothered about the slower beat rate in the certina as it feels a rugged watch. Something like a tissot prx the lower beat would put me off a bit.
