I bought the blue version before this as it was on a heavy discount. It was so good I bought the black dial and the green dial also. I love them to bits. Regulars in the rotation. All run about 5 - 6 sec a day on the wrist. Certina quoted me a service pre pandemic at 180£. Apparently they simply swap movements and send the old unit back to swatch for a recondition. Work guaranteed by Certina.

@@the_watchgent the nuance of that green colour is gourgeous. Green is the best colour for this watch, imo. Wear it in good health.

The movement can be regulated by any watchmaker really. Like other free sprung balance from Omega, Rolex etc. there are screws on two arms of the balance wheel to regulate it. You can spot the screws on pictures of the movement.

This is a fantastic watch for the money. I’ve just returned from a holiday in Tenerife and believe me this a great dive watch. I also took my Seiko SPB143 which has no where the accuracy of the Certina. Certina also state servicing is only 4 - 5 yrs !!

How do you like the fit? My daily is a spb143. I also wear a 42mm diver on occasion but 43 is getting to there even though I have fair sized wrists.

Both are great choices. Which one do you think you will go for.

No, this DS Action Diver has the Powermatic ETA.C07.611, not the ETA.C07.111 (which the Tissot has with plastic escapement). The .611 has is same movement on the Rado watches.

The discussion that has been going on for years about a plastic part in a Powermatic 80 is ridiculous and nonsensical....in dentistry we have been using plastic for decades with great success, because.doese have some advantages. and plastic is not the same as plastic. Certina has thought about using plastic in the escapement, but unfortunately ignored the stupidity of the customers
@slavemi30186 ай бұрын
@@andreasmartinez2216 you have low standards that's why for you this is ridiculous. I ALSO work in the health profession. Our profession use plastics because they're STERILE-R, they're only used ONCE. Like can you imagine reusing a syringe over and over again? Listen, the reason WHY we're buying watches is for the metal, NOT the plastics. Okay? Plastics are cheap, they're meant to be used once or a few times. Take a look at syringes for example. Your typical Terumo/BD syringe costs about $15 box for 100 pieces. A stainless steel syringe (used in MaxFax and I guess dental as well) costs about $15 EACH at the cheapest. If Certina sells this watch for $150 then that's fine. Swatch did it with their MoonSwatch and Blancpain-Swatch and they're successful enough and the watch performs as intended because as you said, plastics has its advantages and has proven degrees of success. Now imagine if a Terumo syringe, one (1) single 10ml plastic Terumo syringe will cost $15? See what I did there? I have no doubt the Powermatic80 will work with a plastic escapement, but sell it at plastics-price. This is what you call VALUE FOR MONEY. $150 for this Powermatic80-equipped Certina, done-deal. BUT SELL IT at $1,000 about the same price as an ETA2824-2 (or Sellita SW200-1) equipped watch?? I'd spit on that Certina.

@@andreasmartinez2216 it's not about a practical choice, there's nothing practical about an automatic watch anymore ... some would just prefer a metal watch without the cheaper plastic material, especially since we talk about a mechanism with gears old tech. on the other hand digital watches are more robust and more practical and are somewhat the new tech, different mechanism you could say high tech with high tech material like plastic. at least more from an artistic perspective.

I think 43mm is still alright for 6.5” wrist size. The green dial is an unusual green which is quite nice. The price range is reasonable for a Swiss made watch under the swatch’s group.❤
@lw29786 ай бұрын
I think that a 6.5 inch wrist is stretching things too far for this watch. I have the black dial version and a 7" wrist, plus long arms, so it wears well enough. Any slimmer and I think the watch would really look overbearing. As well as the size, it's over 200g (183g with the links taken out for my wrist), so it's another factor to take into account.

This is one Swiss made diver that really has caught my attention. The only other close to this price point would be the Hamilton dive watch that looks very similar.
@the_watchgent8 ай бұрын
Both Certina and Hamilton use the same powermatic 80 movement, I believe. Personally, I prefer the Certina, though, due to it having a ceramic bezel and micro adjustment on the claps.

I have the DS Action Diver that's one generation before this one with the non coin-style bezel. I have enjoyed the watch for 3 years as a city watch. My only concern about Certina is the sapphire crystal. I have only lightly used the watch as a dress watch in the city with no hard wear and tear. My sapphire crystal looks like an old pickup truck with blemishes and scratches???? I have 2 Mido diving watches that have perfect non-scratched crystals that I have used in the outdoors and they show no wear like my Certina. I love everything about my Certina as far as checking off all the boxes except for the average lume. I won't buy another Certina for this reason as the face looks like it's 30 years old in 3 years.
