It's the tamest highway in BC. Multi lanes the whole way, with wildlife fencing... try driving hwy 5 to 16, or 16 past PG, or 97 north of PG. You think the coq. Is crazy? You would curl up into the fetal position and cry on the other major highways. Give 37 a try, you will cry

It's a total myth and an absolute fiction that wagon wheel ruts in ordinary topsoil could ever survive 180 years.

Awesome! As a Winnipeger and prairie boy, thanks a lot! Too many people dont see the beauty in the prairies and only like mountains and oceans! Im actually doing an 80 km hike through Riding Mountain at the beginning of October (there will be videos), so check that out if you want! I actually found your channel by looking for walking safaris! Ill be back in South Africa in March and visiting Mozambique on the same trip... itll be mostly diving.. but man, do I love southern Africa!

July of 21 , My friend and I left Vancouver heading to N.B driving a mini van hauling an enclosed trailer , It was a slow ascend upwards but even slower after the snow shed it was 60 km per hour , maybe less ,was all we could do driving up the the smasher to the summit , seemed to take forever.

Should drive BC's highway 1 and highway 3 if you ever get the chance, those are the two highways that the Coquihalla(highway 5) replaced, seeing those highways really helps refine your perspective on the Coquihalla. I drive the Coquihalla twice a night, once each way, 4 to 5 nights a week for work.

I drive this several times a year and worked up in that valley both before and right after the highway went in. The main problem with that highway is what we in IT call the ID-10-T problems. I learned to drive in the Fraser Canyon area (much more dangerous than Coq) and know the limits for speed/conditions etc well. I’ve been driving gingerly down the snowshed hill at 90-100kmh many times in pissing rain & even snow & people are passing me going 120 just as I’m entering the snowshed, where the road surfaces change. I’ll also say if you had your vehicle almost floored going up any of those hills (especially southbound) and were barely maintaining 100kmh you were either towing maximum payload or it’s time for a major tuneup.
