I have a question. There it seems that they did not remove the primary, it can be changed without removing the primary I have that problem on my motorcycle, a 2012 dyna switchback
@Popson2wheels2 ай бұрын
The primary and the inner primary were removed to access the shift lever. I hope this helps. I had a hard time understanding your question.

I didn't intend for this to be an instructional video. I just posted it to show the internals of a V-Twin transmission. I only work on my bike, so I don't have a video from other models. I just followed the instructions in my FSM for my bike.

That’s a vertical climb! The KLR did well, just tractored up it with a bit of a last second grunt.

Did you have to remove inner primary bearing race?
@Popson2wheels Жыл бұрын
The inner primary was removed to have access to the lever on the shaft. I don't remember about the Bearing Race.

interesting how many oem driveshafts have the dampening wheel built into the slip yoke. whats everyones opinion on its effectiveness? and to line up both end caps of the shaft to get them in phase the method is seriously to use a cheap level? if these are a hair unparallel from one another is it possible to have a silky smooth shaft assembly when oriented perfectly straight on a balancing machine but then all out of work when its at an angle in the vehicle with the ujoints actually operating?

Ok i see this is on the other side of the primary and what you did was go on the other side removed caps and other stuff then pulled out the pawl shifter. Hard to tell what you where doing at first. Then realized what it was. Looks easy but still not sure on what to do or if the primary is pulled out as well. For a seal too

My '04 lowrider shifts up in gears but downshifts are horrible tearing it apart soon.could this be my issue ?
@Popson2wheels4 жыл бұрын
I had to replace mine due to the shift lever working loose and wearing the splines. I'm not sure if this is causing your problem.

Why didn't you video the welding process ?
@Popson2wheels5 жыл бұрын
The video didn't just showed a bright light. Didn't think it would add anything to the video.

Question " Can a one piece driveshaft be built with a CV joint on each end , also are they as reliable and tough enough to hold up under normal driving conditions ?
@Popson2wheels5 жыл бұрын
The shafts in some Cadillacs and big Buicks from the 60's and 70's had CV Joints on both ends

2005 Harley Ultra Classic. splines on shift pawl were worn down. shift pawl and shift lever replaced. I couldn't find any info on removing the gears, so I thought I would post this to remove the black magic of working on a Harley. 60k miles on the bike, up to 93k now without any problems.

Could you add a video of balancing a drive shaft?
@65diesel4x48 жыл бұрын
and that runs good no vibrations?
@Popson2wheels8 жыл бұрын
+65diesel4x4 9 times out or 10 it won't vibrate. The shaft is true within .010 inch. There are several verables the could cause problems. Length of shaft, diameter of tubing and joints installed improperly can cause vibration.

I have a sticky Jacobs No. 36B chuck here. I wonder if it disassembles the same way?
@Popson2wheels9 жыл бұрын
Paul Frederick Hi Paul, I think they all are made this way. Some don't have the bearings, but they still come apart the same. Run the jaws about half way out when you press the sleeve off. Mark the jaws and put them back in the same order, even better to put them back in same holes. Good luck.
@1pcfred9 жыл бұрын
Pops on 2 wheels Thanks. I need to take my 36B apart here. It is really gummed up.
