I bought one of your coloring books and desperately want the other ones. I would love ones with higher quality paper. Amazon can be so frustrating.

Thank you for sharing this with us! I think even though it’s not what you have hoped for but you still tried and so you gained those experiences which will definitely become handy in your next moves, it’s always better to try and fail and lear than not try at all. As an immigrant myself I know how frustrating the process sometimes can be especially in the current state of things😕 for me the most important thing in 2024 art wise was deciding that I want to make analogue art and not digital and that even though I love bright colorful art that is not the art I want to make myself and so I don’t have to ‘be’ like the artists I admire but just be myself.

Don't give up. You are so talented. And immigration process is never a smooth path. It seems to challenge all who undertake it to the breaking point before it finally happens. Just keep doing your art and do not be beaten by bureaucracy. Outlast the challenges.

Thank you so much for another amazing process video to watch! And thank you for being vulnerable enough to share some of the negative aspects of your year. I have also had a very hard year. I found your channel just a couple weeks ago and am so inspired by you and your artwork. It has helped me be motivated to tap into my creativity to deal with the hard times in life I have been dealing with. Please continue doing what you're doing, your artwork and videos bring me (and I am sure many others) so much joy. Wishing you the best. :)

i love them both for different reasons. the sketchbook one has fantastic contrast and i think the pastel really fits with the surreal imagery. the texture on the second is GORGEOUS and i love how you blended all the blues together. would honestly love to see a larger version of the smaller sketchbook design.

These are lovely. I like the first one with the heart. So cute. You actually did amazingly well with the oil pastels. They're not the easiest medium to use. I've been using them for years and absolutely love them. I use Sennelier and Caran D'Ache and have lots of random different makes from years ago. Two bits of advice I can give you are: 1) You were working very small for oil pastels. Try going just a bit bigger. Maybe use an A3 sketchbook. 2) Don't use your fingers to smudge or even paper wrapped around your finger. Try twisting a small bit of paper towel instead or folding it several times. I don't get dirty when doing oil pastels. That would be horrible. Maybe that's just experience. Your paper will get very dirty though if you're not careful and the best thing is to put sheets between your pages. Don't bother with the fixatives. They don't work. Oil pastel never really dries. Oil pastel is great for mixed media too. Add it on top of your tempera and gouache paintings for accents and highlights. It doesn't sit well on top of itself mostly so it's better to blend. Try using light colours first and not too heavy handed. apply gently so that it is grainy and as you fill up the page with colour like you do you can press more heavily as you go. I think your work really suits this medium so definitely persevere with a larger format. Good luck 😊

Not a fan of getting my hands dirty either, but these pastels seem really nice! I'm so surprised at their price... I feel like they could be used over another media to add some contrast in textures or some very vivid colors. It might be okay not to smudge then. The lack of control sounds frustrating but I know it can lead to some good surprises and discoveries. Given some time to experiment freely, something could click? I'd be happy to see more relaxed sketching videos with these. And the last drawing is my favorite actually. I like how the open red fruit looks.
@FlamingGardenArt17 күн бұрын
Aww thank you! I want to try it over tempera in the future, I think it might work well✨ And definitely, I believe, lack of control can spark a process and bring something unpredictable and exciting to it

I liked the second one, it had a bit of an "impressionist" vibe. Pastel pencils or dry pastels are not quite as messy, and the typpe of paper used also seems to matter. Many pastel artists that i have listened to recommend Clairefontaine, which is rather pricey. Thanks for the review!

KZbin and teaching are still limited by resources. You can have only so many shorts and so many lessons created. Did you consider a line of postcards or merch in collaboration with some company like flying tiger? I guess you could make one-time lump sum. Will not make you wealthy, but hopefully it will be enough to buy a car or smth. I learned this week how much illustrating a book brings, well I am staying in my corporate job.
@FlamingGardenArt25 күн бұрын
Definitely, KZbin and teaching have a lot of limitations too. Art licensing is a great direction, I love it so much! I've never had collabs with huge companies, it seems to me in order to have them you need to have a licensing agent who knows how to pitch your work to potential clients. But even without it from time to time I receive small licensing collab offers, and it's a lovely feeling to make money from your art that already exists ✨

It's always so nice to watch you paint! I LOVE your variations of colors. I agree with you that being an artist and being a teacher and/or content creator are two different things, and we shouldn't mix them up. I watched a similar video (I don't think it was exactly the same one), but she was focusing more on showing who you are and sharing the story attached to your art. I think that's really valuable and true. I really don't care about scalable, I think people should do what actually makes them happy, just like you said <3

Keep up the good work. Here is a my lovely comment. I love creating art. Love drawing. Love painting. Even love digital art. However, the second money enters the picture, I hate making art. Money ruins art for me and kills the joy. So I don’t create art for a living. Art is my hobby. I have a career outside of art. Dropped out of art school and studied architecture. Work in construction management. The opposite of creative work 😂 but I create what and when I want. I own a home. I own my car. I can feed my son and take care of my aging mother. I don’t think I could live the way I do if I was a full time artist. The thing that is rough about art is that you have to be skilled at art, sales, marketing, etc. You can’t just be a talented artist, you also have to be a savvy business person as well. I had hard enough time creating, didn’t have the time to market my talents as well. So I moved on. I’m happy. I draw. I paint. However, I also am not broke and or stressed about money. I will say that people are always envious of each other. I am envious of my tattoo artists friends free time and schedule. My creative friends are envious of my savings and consistent pay. Life is a trade off. Be pleased with your decisions.

Thank you so much for your honest comment 🖤 I understand 100% what you're saying. Creative business is a bit too romanticized, and sometimes, during "depressive" periods, I have thoughts of quitting. At the same time when I manage to make decent money with my art, it seems to me I am living my dream life, fulfilling both my desire to create art and feed myself with it. All in all, keeping up the good work is the loveliest advice ✨

God I relate to what you spoke about in this video so much. I’d love to make creativity my job, but I just want to make art, and so often people suggest taking my creativity and turning it into jobs that would make me miserable. There’s so many other skills beyond being an artist you need to actually make money, and it hurts when people diminish that struggle or constantly make suggestions without considering anything but money. It feels so reductive to the complexity of being an artist! I am really grateful that you shared this about the artist industry, especially whilst showing us your joy in art and support for creatives struggling with a similar thing❤❤
