I really can appreciate you wanting to take a car that needs alot of love bring up to daily driver status than to just buy a mint low mileage car to destroy by adding all those miles. My favorite Corvette year is 1985. Especially the (3) two tone exterior paint scheme cars which really are my passion. I hate the Z51 package because it rides too rough. Indifferent on the transmissions although the Doug Nash would probably be preferred because it's more rare. After 1985, all cars had third brake lights which i HATE and 1984 had the notorious Cross fire injection which wasn't very reliable/tuneable. So 1985 is the sweet spot for me. I got turned onto the 1985 Corvette when i was a young kid. One of my favorite TV programs was The scarecrow and Mrs. King which had a SILVER 1985 model. I feel in love with that car. Normally i don't like silver - because it's kinda plain compared to other deep rich looking colors. But on the 1985 Corvette, it just looked right. Most of your audience is too young to remember that program but that car was in almost EVERY episode and it made the show for me.

The Silver car is the daily, the Red is just shows, date night, special occasions. They are incredibly well engineered and designed considering their price point. Unfortunately the computer managements was unapproachable to home wrench turners in ‘85 and by the time enthusiast were comfortable with that technology, newer better options existed. Still for what they cost and what they offer they are hard to beat! Thanks for checking out the content😎

All C4s are NOT targa tops. The seat belt button is a cinch button NOT a clinch button. Power steering fluid is never thick like honey but it's thin like transmission fluid. Power steering stop leak fluid is thick like honey

All not convertibles ARE targa tops. Cinch, clinch…whatever. I personally own an ‘85 with sport seats🤷🏻♂️. As far as the consistency of power steering fluid…It’s definitely the color of honey…it’s thicker than water…again sort of whatever. Get the 36v version. I have the 18v and went through 8 of 5amh batteries just to wash half of the house roof. (1 side only). Definitely chews through the batteries. Even washing my car 1 battery isn’t enough. Also on my one you cannot fit the nozzle attachment directly onto the drill like you showed, you have to use it attached to the metal rod. It appears the fitting has a little knob that ensures it will not attach directly to the drill by itself. Also you really need to have it on turbo mode. The flat 15 degree nozzle setting doesnt have as much power and will not clean your concrete. It was ok on the deck and steps. Also they need to supply it with a soap/chemicals bottle as then its more useable and worth it.
@KevinzGarage28 күн бұрын
I bought the soap bottle separately. I used it on my concrete front porch and mossed up back deck…it worked for me🤷🏻♂️. Granted my front porch and wood back deck aren’t particularly large but they were pretty filthy and I was able to clean them up with 4 batteries. Like anything I’m sure results can vary but my experience was that it worked very good. It was far easier to set-up and put away than a conventional power washer and did what I needed it to do. I’m a basic maintenance wrench turner…but there are videos showing the LS1 making over 500 horses with heads/cam/intake…I’m really thinking on doing it…I’m just reluctant to mess with it…will those things ruin the gas mileage and drivability?
@karpetcm22 күн бұрын
@@KevinzGarageYou might be able to get close to 500 crank horsepower meaning at the motor. It will all come down to what type of heads and how aggressive the cam is. The more you try to reach that peak 500hp the less the car will be comfortable driving on the street. It will mostly be a top end car due to the aggressive cam. You would want to install 3:90 gears with the manual 6 speed i say 3:90 since the stock rear 7.5 diff wont handle much power. The higher the gears more teeth but thinner the teeth to get them to fit in that small diff so more prone to break and going 4:10's will be definitely weaker then 3:90's but need the gears to stay in the powerband. In my day not looked at them recently with a good set of heads and cam package along with long tubes, intake and excellent tunning you can get about 420-440whp. Ive seen some streetable mild build heads and cam only do 400ish to the wheels. You can run a little nitrous which i did and the ls motors take it easily. As long as plugs are two steps colder, gapped correctly and your tune is good. My ls when i flipped the switch ON for the nitrous the tune would switch over to nitrous tune and when turning it off would switch over to max n/a tune i had the best of both worlds.

I have a 1986 Corvette Coupe which I bought a few years ago. It was running good and I was in the process of taking it to the DMV to get inspected, when it started backfiring and finally stopped. I had it towed to my home where it has been sitting for approximately a year. I'm not sure if the previous owner had the fuel pump and filter replaced when he had the engine and trans rebuilt as shown on the mechanic's bills. I have all the work that was completed on the Vet. In your video you mentioned that you replaced the fuel pump and sending unit and also cleaned out the fuel tank. When you were completing this work, How did you clean out the fuel tank? Did you have to remove the tank from the Vet and then how did you clean it? Also, someone told me that a relay could have gone bad which caused the engine to backfire by starving the fuel to the engine. Is this possible? Thank you! Regards, Robert

It’s very easy. Four torx bits to take the panel around the gas cap off, 9 10mm bolts to get the fuel sending unit out. I siphoned the fuel out and used pigmat and shop towels to wipe the tank out. Took about an hour. I’d consider it an early C4 must do. Thanks for checking out the content!

Nice video. The front section of metal near the hood is not called a quarter panel. It is always called a fender. Quarter panels are only in the rear. Fenders are only in the front. The sail panel issue is actually the glue bubbling up through the paint. That's why you're able to see it. However, this does not happen if the car stays out of the Sun and does not get hot on the top often. I have one that stays garaged and has no issues with that glue whatsoever. However, my other 4th Gens do. My 99 Z28 and 02 Trans am do have those issues which have stayed outside. And it was only certain years. Like 99-02 I believe. Not positive. It definitely was not on the earlier models. It was only on the later ones. My 94 Z28 never had that issue. What's really sad is the GM knew about it after the first year and did nothing. Looking forward to more 4th gen videos. Great entertainment.
