Damnation is one of their best albums. Yes, it's not (musically) heavy, but as a showcase for Akerfeldt's songwriting and the quality of his melodic voice, it is perfect.

As a Manson fan since 96 I have to say that the new album is absolutely fantastic and everything that I hoped for based off of the singles that were released. Bought the CD and Vinyl. Waiting for the tape to come in. I wont give my ranking of albums because outside of the top 3/4, the ranking changes based on my mood at the time. But for clarification, the top Manson album will always be ACS. As for the title of the new album, it did seem a bit weird when it first became known. I thought the album was going to be titled "Raise the Red Flag". But after listening to the album in full 2 days ago, on release day, I understood why the album is titled the way it is, based off the lyrics/themes. So while not my favorite album title by Manson, it DOES make sense. Lastly, everyone has their own "underrated/overrated" albums by artists, and everyone's lists are different from one another, I do feel that GAOG/EMDM/BV seem to be misunderstood and often overlooked. But ultimately it's subjective. No one is right or wrong in the debate. I love every Manson album, but for different reasons. The album I had the most difficulty in appreciating is THEOL, but it grew on me over time. Would love another Antichrist Superstar but that will never happen and I've come to accept that. New album is a 10/10 for me. More than satisfied.

The halo effect is a dream come true. The two Goats of the genre together making pure magic! Absolutely flawless album and better then anything in flames done in...over 20 years! (And that's given the fact I love the 00s and the 10s In flames)

Octane core or Pop Core can vary IMO They can be lazy and predictable but there are some that stood out. I think the most interesting bands are the ones that have dived deeper into the pop music world and brought out elements that most metal bands weren’t even considering. Also another key ingredient I look for is how consistent they are with incorporating their pop song influences without losing their edge. Even though sound wise BMTH has gone far more pop but there is always this “happy veil that covers over the underlying darkness” vibe they have in subtext of their songs. Even lyrically Oli is just as dark and depressed as ever, probably more in a few areas.
