@RoguSpanish how is he guilty when Ilma Gore (one of his accusers) literally came out and said it was a false lawsuit spearheaded by Evan Rachel Wood via email? There's a reason why people had to try and get him prosecuted on an "a$$ault" charge from (at the time) almost six years ago after he spit on a camera at a concert and got some of it on the cameraman. Which was also a frivolous case as the guy had to sign a waiver before getting the job.

Antichrist superstar is actually the ending of the story, holywood is the prequel, holywood is about a character named Adam Cadmon starting a rebellion against the society that has beaten him down, mechanical animals is about an alien named Omega getting thrusted into fame and dealing with the isolation, drug abuse, and sex, antichrist superstar is about a character named the worm who becomes a celebrity to destroy the beautiful people that have treated him like trash

One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1 is truly a masterpiece, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a die-hard fan. This album legitimately feels like a follow-up to Holy Wood. As much as I enjoyed all the previous albums, nothing will top Portrait of An American Family to Holy Wood. The band's first four studio albums are masterpieces. However, this might be my fourth favorite album. It has my favorite opening song since "GodeatGod" and perhaps my favorite album closing song since EAT ME, DRINK ME. At this point, I can't pinpoint a particular favorite song because the entire album is perfect. All killer, no filler here. It's like a more cinematic version of Holy Wood/darker Mechanical Animals, with traces of fury from Antichrist Superstar, a dash of his last few albums, combining into a more evolved version of the traditional Manson sound that made us fall in love with his music. His voice sounds as good as it did in his prime. Nothing sounds rushed or like a first take recording. This album has beautiful layers of melodies, a good dose of aggression, and amazing guitar playing, with Tyler Bates tapping into his inner Daisy Berkowitz, capturing the soul of a Marilyn Manson guitar, with his own spin on writing, as heard in Funeral Without Applause, especially the outro. The album covers a range of styles, including industrial metal, cinematic synth arrangements, goth glam rock, industrial punk rock, and new wave, capturing the essence of Marilyn Manson and beyond. It's objectively the best album since Holy Wood, with a more refined version of the last few albums. This is a Marilyn Manson with something to say again; a refreshed and focused Marilyn Manson, fueled by the hypocrisy of modern society, with a concept and story to tell, just like when he first started the band.

Such a great album
@HunterShark3005 сағат бұрын
Absolutely. The album sounds like the perfect mix of the classic triptych era, especially Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood (with songs like No Funeral Without Applause, Death Is Not a Costume, One Assassination Under God, As Sick As the Secrets Within and Sacrifice of the Mass), as well as a continuation of We Are Chaos (Sacrilegious, Raise the Red Flag, Meet Me in Purgatory). I think the cherry on top is Nod If You Understand. Or even more, Front Toward Enemy, which is not on the album (I really wonder when and where he's going to put it). These songs sound like they came straight from Antichrist Superstar, especially the latter.

@opal8 I only check out reddit rankings for new bands and have no idea where to start but for Manson, if BV is ranked any lower than GAOG or the 2 albums in between, then someone has lost their mind. We all know the trilogy will forever reign supreme for the top 3, but to round out 4 and 5 we have to look at albums that reshaped Manson and made him a force to be reckoned with again and BV was one of those albums.

Very fair assesment of Eat me drink me. I think as years go by people will soften more and more towards the album until people apreciate it for what it is. @hg16515 сағат бұрын
A tier list often fails to adequately rank Marilyn Manson's albums because his discography is less about a linear progression of quality and more about exploring a spectrum of diverse sounds and themes. Each album serves as a distinct chapter in his artistic journey, offering listeners unique "flavors" that cater to different moods, tastes, and interpretations. Manson's work spans various styles, from the industrial grit of Antichrist Superstar, the glam-rock theatrics of Mechanical Animals, and the introspective darkness of Holy Wood, to the experimental and gothic tones of The Pale Emperor and We Are Chaos. These albums aren't just products of their time but are also deeply tied to the listener's state of mind and personal experiences. Instead of judging them against one another in a static hierarchy, it’s more fitting to see them as an interactive "choose-your-own-adventure" anthology. For example: If you're in the mood for unrelenting anger and rebellion, Antichrist Superstar might resonate. For a reflective and poetic exploration of vulnerability, The Pale Emperor provides a more mature, stripped-down sound. Feeling theatrical and alienated? Mechanical Animals invites you to its glittering dystopia. This fluid and subjective nature makes the "best" Manson album depend on individual tastes rather than any objective measure of quality. Tier lists, by contrast, impose rigid structures that can diminish the multifaceted nature of his artistry, reducing the deeply personal and experiential way fans connect with his music.

But the trilogy will always be f-amazing, it's like a trip. And for some reason Portrait of an American Family nowadays it's the one that resonates with me the most. Something about its weird funky decadent sound plus the rawness of the guitars and vocals, it's like being on drugs, but not that much, just enough to not care about the world and not having morals or wanting to be likeable, living your own inner desires even if they scare the world.

I think Manson needs a good producer, who is detailed, where are those guitars, in some songs you could hear up to 3 guitars, synthesizers, those hidden and dark sounds, the panning of several of Manson's voices that seemed to be speaking in one ear and in the other there was another of Manson's voices, the whispers of the man you fear are in the past, it took a long time for his return and they sincerely set the bar very high compared to albums like Antichrist Superstar, Portrait of an American, and Mechanical Animals, I like the details and that is what I capture in Manson's music in his first albums, as I said before, he needs a good producer and I don't know if there are any left, someone from the old school, Sean Bean, Trent Reznor, Dave Ogilvie, producers and industrial monsters.

I have not touched my clarinet since. Still play both of my saxophones, the piano and the guitar. People love to jump to attention span… that’s not it at all. I have some long albums I LOVE. To me it’s how you justify the time. If not every track is a banger, you’re making filler, and I factor that into the overall experience of the album.

Dude called one MMs most personal, and vulnerable songs "Sacrifice Of The Mass" mediocre and put yet another very personal album like "WE ARE CHAOS" at the bottom. What a tool. "hurr duuurr I want gutarrss and bangorzzz!!"
@MetalTrenchesСағат бұрын
People like you want to turn supposed nonconformity into just a new version of conformity lol. No self awareness. I don’t think a guy like Manson would ever want his fans to have a lock-step opinion of his art. It’s subjective by design you dolt. 😂

@MetalTrenches No self awareness says the abandoned radioactive chunk of phlegm at the bottom of a dumpster in Baltimore who uploaded this L. Bozo.

Bro I think majority of Manson fans or music lovers would disagree with most of your rankings on this.
@MetalTrenches6 сағат бұрын
And? I can't imagine a fanbase being so un-self-aware that they'd love a band all about DEFYING the status quo... and yet give people grief for doing exactly that lol. Should we all just have the same opinion? Let's not turn non-conformity into just another version of conformity, people.
@baldjadapickettsmith25295 сағат бұрын
@ u gave your opinion. I gave mine. Nothing wrong with that. Didn’t give you grief. I gave my opinion
@baldjadapickettsmith25295 сағат бұрын
And cool to share your personal rankings. But u showed the internet to get reactions and responses. This is my response. My opinion is my response. I didn’t agree with you. So what. I think most will disagree. You gonna reply to everyone? Lol
@MetalTrenches3 сағат бұрын
I like to reply to as many people as possible. I'm just sick of the mentality about caring what the "majority opinion" is. It can be interesting to consider, but far too often I get comments using it as a means to try to delegitimize any sort of OPPOSING opinion. And that just feels completely antithetical to discussion of music... especially counter-culture type music. I get it from black metal people too, which is just HILARIOUS.
@baldjadapickettsmith25293 сағат бұрын
@@MetalTrenches oh I get it. It’s good that you’re showing what you like whether the majority will agree or not. Was not trying to take shots at you. Just saying you might be going against the grain with the rankings. But that’s totally fine. I admit when I go against the grain too. Because this is YOUR rankings. No one else’s

I can not get past the fact that MM went Christian. Makes me question everything I ever thought about him and makes me also think the things he is accused of are more true than not. I loved him in the old days and now am having a hard time separating art from artist and have no respect left for him.

Yeah, you wanna talk about something that didn't age well, yikes. Not to mention Mad Mike hit it on the head that Slipknot owe their entire success to him that "Manson fans wanted something to listen to other than Manson." I do kinda like "Fight Song" though.
