Festool thought of this but believed a woodworker would balk at a seventy thousand forklift tomraise and lower the table

Well, I finally took a minute to check out your video here. Pretty intrigued. But you might consider leaving your version of "music" off your video's. I believe I would rather hear a grinder or better yet just natural shop noises....Mute also eliminates any constructive thing you might say.

Hey, thanks for watching and the great feedback! Yeah, music is a funny thing with KZbin. There are limits with what an actual business can do with music on all the social media sites. I'd love to feature Rush, Led Zeppelin, Ambrosia, Moody Blues, Little River Band, Marvin Gaye, Tears for Fears, Marshal Tucker Band, BB King, Metallica (you get the picture). Heck, even my own band (Tempo Lake Band) has music videos on KZbin, and it's a landmine situation navigating copy-write issues if you sound at all like some other famous song. For Oly Builds, I have indeed been experimenting with different kinds of music (paid royalty-free service) here and there to test the waters. To be perfectly honest, it was a crutch on the first several background music only building videos because doing the voice-overs was a huge learning curve. Each video has taken around 400 takes to blurt stuff out that makes sense and that can be heard. That said, I hear you, and I agree - more content, less fill! I am curious if the 234 people that subscribed to the channel based on this video alone liked the music or subscribed in spite of it. Ha! Perhaps more would have subscribed without it! ;) I'll never know. Cheers, mate.

What is the strait edge you use with your circular saw? I want one.

It's the Tru-Grip 50" edge clamp. I see now looking for it on the web, that company may no longer be in business. It looks like Bora makes a similar product now. You can find them at Lowes or Rockler.

Nice. I did basically the exact same thing several years ago but did not think to make them adjustable up/Down. I’m getting ready to make some MFT tops and might "borrow " your idea 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

Excellent! Yeah, any rigid top/torsion table would do. I bought the Festool ones and didn't like connection between them at all, so started scheming. Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much! It has been a lot of fun working on these videos after sitting on the footage for so long. We've learned a ton while starting this business, and so we've been picking up tools as they are necessary to our client's projects (and spending our profits - ha!). We've got the two smaller Festool routers now, but have not needed the domino yet. $$$$! It looks cool though!

I enjoyed watching your video - nice build. I am really surprised that you were not able to fix the Delta bandsaw. Not only did it appear that the top thrust bearing was seized, but it appears that both the top and bottom thrust bearings were too far back from the blade as the blade seemed to move about 1/4". I own a Delta 14" bandsaw from the 1940s (bought in the early 1990s), and a Rockwell (Delta) 14" bandsaw from the late 1970s or early 1980s (bought in the mid-2000s). Last year I installed new thrust bearings in the Delta bandsaw, sourced from a seller on Amazon. I then installed a ball bearing blade guide system from Carter on the Rockwell saw. I later found a Michigan based manufacturing company selling ball bearing blade guide for the older hex shaped post of the 1940s Delta, so I bought that guide for the older saw. Another Ebay seller sells manufactured 6" riser kits (increases cutting height to 12") that were compatible with the 1940s Delta, so I bought and installed that kit. Iturra Design makes a “Spinner” quick blade tension release handle that fit both the Delta and Rockwell bandsaws, so I bought one for each saw last year. The same Ebay seller that offered the 6" riser key also sells a variety of other Delta replacement parts, so last year I also bought for the 1940s saw a replacement plug that inserts into the side of the table to keep the two halves of the table in alignment (the original was missing after nearly 80 years). Replacement parts are still available for the Delta bandsaws, even though the parts are not available from the current Delta company. If a 14" bandsaw still meets your needs, I suggest looking for another older Delta 14" bandsaw.

Hello! Thanks for watching! I appreciate the information about the saws and sources. I grappled with the issue for some time -even visiting a Delta service center several years ago, and a local tool repair shop. I got the impression (was told) that I should not bother, so I guess it just goes to show you how important hearing misinformation is and not researching things a bit further yourself. Again, thanks for supplying repair and upgrade ideas for others that may come across this. Cheers!

I like the idea. I know we're woodworkers, but sometimes a piece of steel or aluminum angle would have made the mounts easier.

Nicely done. It’s always fun to create something that suits the job at hand. Couple questions. In the full size cart, would there be room to reverse the height adjustment bolts, so that the extra thread would be just under the top, and not down into the storage area. Did you consider building the storage areas to fit any of your tool boxes? Like drawer slides with a ply surface to fit Milwaukee or Festool Systainers.
@olybuilds4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the interest in the project! Yes, you are accurate that there is room in the larger cart to have the bolt go up into the table void. I misspoke in the video: although the bolts are 6", there is only 2.5" of adjustment. I just checked now and there is about 2.75" clearance to the aluminum rail on the Festool, where the bolt is currently located (near the edge of the box for dial adjustment). A little more if the bolt was moved away from the edge a half inch. However, in an inverted configuration, the dial rotation would then be backwards from the smaller cart (it doesn't have the room to invert the assembly). Thinking it through a little further, it seems there would not be access to the "anti-tilt" nut if the floating part of the dial was underneath the table. We found out the hard way that these are necessary if you clamp a large piece to the table and push on a cantilevered end -the table comes with it (yikes). But! If you didn't care about that and left the top bolt off completely, you could easily take the MFT on and off for site visits. Indeed, the storage areas on both workbenches are suited to Festool Systainers, though that was by chance. I think I only owned one at the time. ha! The sliding shelf is a good idea too! Thanks!
