Newest Lenovo come with USB c charging. Does this mean laptop is grounded while being charged?
@oswaldocerdan2 ай бұрын
NOW I have that same OCD for checking my cables for ground, damn you! Btw I got a cheap USB cable tester from amazon with little leds that check for continuity on all the pins, you can find it pretty easily for around 30 USD and it works like a charm. Good video!

Thank you for doing this product review. I was thinking that the issue with my first gen chromecast was due to something other than the chromecast itself. The hardware for the first gen was OK for its time, but it was released back in 2013, over a decade ago. It was a low power Marvell ARMADA® 1500-mini (88DE3005) system on a chip solution. I should retire it, but it is a good product, easy to set up and use. I wonder if I can get the newest one for a cheap price?

The beep tone from a multimeter is not a sufficient condition for a good shield. The USB specification mentions a 0.6 ohm plug-to-plug shield resistance. The multimeters generally beep if the resistance is lower than 10 ohms.

On my HP laptop if I use a ground plug, the USB sheath is also grounded. Makes a difference when fooling around with RTL-SDR (usb radio receiver). Noise floor dropped 3dB. should apply equally to any low level signal processing hardware connected to a computer. But yes, you need to check your USB cables with a multimeter to see if the shield is connected and you need a 3 prong wall socket with ground.

Very cool, i have an RTL-SDR on a Pi 4 running OpenWebRX. I need to upgrade the antenna the SDR came with.

True, I think that's on purpose to force people to buy a new model. I have the 1st gen, and it's barely usable. Low resolution, hiccups all the time, can't stream 1080p 30fps anymore, can't change resolution, barely hits 720p, usually is less. Just before I watched your video, I ordered an adapter to connect wired Internet. I think I'll bin it and buy a firestick.

For RMF is there a way to upload the scan results in eMASS or do you have to fill out the exported Excel document that lists all the hundreds of controls by hand?
@tokentech331811 ай бұрын
You'd think eMASS would easily take xccdf or ckl files but as far as I know they don't. I think there have been a few open source projects to merge results into a .CSV to make loading easier.

cant u just solder it back even without the pad bc the soldering metal will replace as the pad?
@tokentech3318 Жыл бұрын
You would think that and i tried but it didn't work, the soldering doesn't fix the broken connection between the pad and the PCB trace, at keast not consistently and thus this method must be used.

I doubt its a connection issue but something else then. Already try a new switch? You can jumper contacts to test.

those plugs are soooo thick. Why would they do that? If a TV is mounted on the wall and the power outlet was behind the TV(ideally) then someone would need 3 inches of clearance behind the TV. One of my TVs has the hard-drive separate from the monitor so all those connections would be hidden behind the media bench.

They aren't grounded for DC. That's could be good as it prevents ground loops. I would test again for capacitance. The ends could be capacitively coupled which would effectively be grounded for high speed signals.

Can you help me? Everytime i press any key within the row the whole row get pressed/activated
@tokentech33182 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what can cause that, maybe jumpering the wrong side of a diode causing the firmware to think you are hitting all those keys at the same time?

I suspect diode jumper placement - assuming you have attempted repairs. If you haven't attempted repairs yet, I believe one of my symptoms was multiple switches in the row triggering due to one broken socket
