Another Blues team that should have coasted to the Cup and somehow didn't.

Interesting contrast between St Louis fans’ clothes vs Montreal fans’ clothes. The Montreallers are wearing heavier clothes, because it’s still cold there in April and early May. By then, it can be quite warm in STL.

Isn’t that Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau at 2:37? (Pierre was current PM Justin Trudeau’s dad)

In the Blues first year 1967-1968 when they lost all 4 games in the Finals versus Montreal by only one goal with two of the games going to overtime it was amazing. Glenn Hall did an incredible job like done by Jordan Binnington when the Blues finally won a Cup in 2019. Blues coach Scotty Bowman brought in veterans Dickie Moore and Doug Harvey for help. The Blues played their heart out in the Finals that year, but the odds were like when the USA team beat Russia in the 1980 Olympics.

This was the worst the Stars of that era played in the playoffs. Simply atrocious
@davidsuarez30034 жыл бұрын
None of those goals should’ve counted on either side. That’s terrible reffing. The goalies Had their face masks dislodged the play’s should’ve been blown dead. Incompetence.

For people who have only watched hockey post-1995, those things you keep seeing in the highlight are called "goals". They're out of fashion today but back when I was growing up hockey games featured a lot of them. Also, St. Louis hockey fans are awesome. So glad the Blues finally won a Cup. This clip is now the SECOND-greatest moment in Blues history. :)

I’m OK with the Big Hair on women in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s! But yeah, not the beehive ‘do’s of the ‘60’s!! 🤣. My cousin, Diane, rocked the beehive and she probably used a full can of hairspray. Her hair was like a helmet!!

Rogie Vachon was "my man". He helped me love the game (learn and become a goalie- without a mask for awhile) and also become a Canadiens fan in 1966. That was rare as I lived in NY. I recall the poor Blues going 0 for those 2 years but they were a tough bunch and their crowds were awesome. The Canadiens defense was just so tough to penetrate. Great stuff looking back-and oh was Dan Kelly the best hockey announcer ever or what?

1:33 "He'll shoot again, another save, his arms are tired. He'll shoot again his arms are more tired rebound hits the side of the net. Here's Turgeon to Pronger, to MaCinnis, He's still got some gas, HE SHOOTS AND SCORES! PLENTY OF GAS!!!" I love Ken Wilson

That blues team was really good tho, 2 of the best defenseman to play the game on the same line, and a very underrated offense imo

Absolutely beautiful defensive play by Macinnis at 4:00 . He is famous for his shot, but his defensive play was just as impressive.

The lady at 3:24 seemed more interested in her makeup than in hockey. That's OK, she probably won the game with the gentleman beside her.

For the initial expansion, the NHL placed the original six teams in the Eastern Division and the six expansion teams in the Western Division. They also adopted a format where the winners of the division playoffs would meet in the Stanley Cup Finals, thereby guaranteeing that an expansion team would be in the finals. The Blues emerged as the best of the new teams and represented the Western Division in the finals for three straight years. While they did not win, they performed credibly and added prestige to the NHL expansion.
