Hello Richard, Good to hear from you. I am still in test mode until the new year. I am still having some sound issues. By mid January I am hoping to have a new microphone, motherboard, CPU, Ram etc. all should be installed. I am not doing too much, just banging a few videos out and combining some together, like a montage. Yeah the logs are so much better than chopping trees, a real time saver too. I do think for just one piece, they could have been a tad smaller in size, maybe. The cable car doesn't have a stop and reverse button, lack of thought I guess. I suggested it to Cold Games, but we will have to wait and see if he takes it onboard. By the way, bare in mind, if you put a CPU at a base to run the cable car from, you have to put in a bunch of power storage as it requires a lot of power to install it. Then to maintain it. You will need a couple of solar panels, turbines and generators etc. because you will drain the power very fast and it won't work. If you plan to use it a lot, then I suggest in running extenders from your main bases, it will be cheaper material wise by far. @@rawssubsistencegameplay7445 Thanks for the info on the cable cars. Hmm, I'll have to see what kind of use I can make of it (the cable car) then. I only have one dedicated base (I know, it's nothing compared to your seemingly endless number of bases HAHA), but I was thinking of making one a little closer to the "mega AI hunter base" (you know- the bigger version they make with more valuable loot) in my file and doing the cable car between those for easier access. Though I have been having fun just using the ATV to get around! Problem is that I play many other games at the moment... so Subsistence has taken a backseat for a while. Your videos always tend to reignite the urge the play again though. Thank you for the holiday wishes and same to you, of course!

Hi Jeff, I received you email but there was an issue trying to respond. In short, I had no plans to do another new start, very demanding but it is the over the top grind. It really takes the fun out of the game. If there were a number of requests to do one, I might look at it. It is just a lot of time wasted if there is no interest.

Thanks John, but after 4,500 plus hours, if I didn't pick up some skills, I shouldn't be playing. Always appreciate feedback good or bad. I would hate to keep repeating something that is not liked.

hahahaha It is just a lot of practice and as I have said in the past, rifles and hand guns in this game are not my first choice. In real life I have marksman certificates and trophy's from Skeet Shooting but totally useless with the Bow. Having a bad shoulder for 40 years didn't help. A Crossbow might have been the answer but I didn't like killing animals for the sake of killing. If it was for Survival (Excuse the pun) then of course I would. Thank you for the rap...Appreciate it. I did post a video on the 8th of March, which was really recorded earlier in the year but it was unlisted. I was posting a lot of videos at the time and didn't notice it wasn't public. I saw in the Steam chat players arguing about the drills, no of whom knew what they were talking about. As I hadn't tested since the Alpha 62 update to see if it was fixed, I did the new test with 4 drills, 2 of each. And you know the result, no change. Sorry for not making it public earlier. But at least you know, not to waste materials when installing any new drills.

The pump refilling uses the most power, followed by the Grow-lights. You could always run generators to compensate but it is minimal. Power storage is so easy and cheap to make. At every possibility, you should install Power Storage and Mass storage. Set your target to get 20,000 Power and 5,000 Mass I have between 22,000 and 37,000 power and 6,000 and 7,300 Mass in 3 games. All different.

I gave up searching for answers. I switched next and previous from forward and back on the wheel. to depress to select. You end up cycling through everything in your belt but it stops the unloading and random swapping weapons. It is the only game it happens in.

I have seen Rogues and the Cave Dwellers put campfires in the weirdest places. Well, of course, it is them actually, it is the programming. I've put them on top of doors etc., for the fun of it but the only real benefit is in the water. You can fish and stay warm or if wet, you can still get dry.

Why? You have to cook Rabbits and Chickens. you can't eat them raw.

Yeah that is a major problem. I have tried a handful of mics. But I always had Issues with them. This one is the best of the bunch.

Bandages, made from Leather. From rabbits is rather quick. If you set up camp where I do, you will thrive. And you should try and get at least one Antidote. You need to catch fish to get the oil first. Again go back over the 2024 Series 2 bunch of Video', it's all there.

Where did you set up your Base or Camp?

In general, your stamina increases with diet. Early days Fish, Rabbit Liver and Steak. Pausing and chopping wood helps replenish it. Once you are able to cook in the oven, then you will gain maxim=um rather quickly

Yes and will keep whatever stats you had and will continue to increase. Stamina 124/125 and Health 125/125. You cannot switch up to Hardcore. You can only start on Hardcore.

I personally don't want to test just how long it takes to the minute. When the blood dries and goes a brownish shade, is about the maximum I like to tell new players in a New Start.

Hi David, That has been something people have been complaining about since 2016. This developer isn't one to listen to players too much and doesn't seem to appreciate feedback or suggestions. There are a lot of players like yourself, that would prefer to build. Some players create works of art with the basics. Imagine what they could do with different angles and materials.

I am glad I was able to do that. You can repair the traps too. Of course you need to take the fish trap out of the water first. Drying and warming by the Campfire under water has always been the strangest for me. But it comes in handy at times.

Hello Richard, I have never looked at it as being dedicated, entertaining which in turn, I hope pay forward to entertain. I appreciate your comments, I just wished a few more would as it would help me with what the content to post. As for Bee Hives, number one rule "Don't look for them" how silly that sounds. I never look for them, I just come across them. I have found 95% of the Hives in the Months of May and September. Always carry a couple of insect repellent's at all times. Just go on a gather all scavenger run, pack a bunch of Stamina Packs. If it rains, log out and switch between those two months, that is what I do.

Thank you for your comments, much appreciated. I have clocked up 3,780 hours. I have been playing just over 2 years. If you keep the Bases to a medium size and make them efficient, they are cheaper to construct and run. I don't go crazy with metal plate as it is too expensive and makes the Base very dark. Whatever I find that works well in a Base, I will remodel each Base that is in the same location, in each game to be close as possible to each other. I use screenshots of a Base to copy. Some are pretty close like the Waterfall Bases and Pine Lake but the Birchwood Lake bases and FOB Bases are just similar not as close. You may not notice, but the differences stand out to me. If you view some of the early videos 2022 or early 2023, you'll see the transformation of them.

I’m somewhere around 400hrs and I accidentally deleted one of my saves a while back which REALLY demotivated me, but now I’ve got a solid base up and running, so I’m happy about that. I guess I’d also like to know, do you set goals for yourself when you play? To elaborate, it seems like you have every possible item in the game and you are no longer really “surviving”… you are thriving! Haha, so are you still trying to go after materials to build/maintain things? Like I know for me, I just want to build at least everything possible in the game. So I’m currently trying to go after the newer materials (silicon/lithium) so I can get the vehicle bay up and running. I guess to sum up all those questions^… are you just kinda doing whatever you want with no real singular goal in mind? I should also mention… I have no problem whatsoever if that is the case^ I am just curious as I imagine people have different motivations in a game as open-ended as this.

I don't have any goals any more whatsoever. However, I didn't get to where I am overnight, there were actually thousands of hours of grinding. And yes I still have to go to the Caves for Crystals. Still need to raise Chickens for meat and feathers. I have 16 Garden Beds of which 10 are re-sewn regularly. 8 Carrots and 2 Tomatoes. Nah I haven't got every item, no Oil Heater or Air Con lol I play mostly in March, April, May and Sept. The latter two are for Bee Hives. I just repeat those months. Once in a while, I will do a winter run for a change. I have been thriving and not surviving for many months. There is a smart way and a wrong way to excel in this game. I may be able to help you retrieve your lost save too. In the interim, I assume you are playing SP? Then follow this suggestion and you should not lose your save file again. C:\Steam \steamapps\common\Subsistence\UDKGame\SaveData\PofileSaves\SP Make a shortcut of SP to your desktop, open the file and hit date modified. Your latest save will be on top. Make a new file "Back Up Saves" and put it next to the SP shortcut. Copy your latest save and place it into that file. Every time you log out from the game, do the same thing. There will come a time when you will have a new save with a duplicate earlier save number, just write over it.

It was pretty demoralizing at the time, but I have certainly surpassed my previous progress at this point. I think because my first save was a lot of learning (more like “dying/starving”😆). This save, with all knowledge gained from before, I was able to practically make the same progress in half the time! It was quite satisfying actually. I can certainly send you one… I’m sure I could learn a ton haha. Thanks for all the info already provided too.

I forgot to mention, that there is a bug where open map areas are closing on players, that has happened to me in the past too. You need to also back up the SaveData file. Just copy and paste it into the same file where you put the .save file. Go to this link:- C:\Steam \steamapps\common\Subsistence\UDKGame\SaveData. If the file takes up too much memory, just save the list below. For players who regularly backup their .sav files, you must now also backup the following files: BannedPlayers MapData ProfileStats_Mp ProfileStats_Sp This will prevent Map blackouts, Banned Players and Profile irregularities if you need to use the backup file. Hope that makes sense to you.

@@rawssubsistencegameplay7445 but I do it in the skyscope plateau there is a snakey river at the point of the river that goes into waterfall up and around but I mine the rocks onto of water fall and on the river and then save and reload

No he hasn't, but the smaller Bases are less frequent then the Fortress but I find if you don't raid them for 5 or 6 games days, you are more likely to get one. Although it still is not a guaranteed thing.
