Great video. What is a realistic salary for manual QA in your opinion? I feel like these bootcamps are over-promising.

Salespeople will always oversell and say what you could make, but what you actually can make will depend on your location, the current job market , and if you do manual or automation software testing QA
I have 7+ years of experience as a QA automation engineer with Selenium and RestAssured(JAVA). Not able to find a new opportunity. Any advice...

Dear Mr.Bailey, Thank you so much for all of the time and effort that you put into your videos. They are extremely helpful and I am truly grateful. I am very enthusiastic about learning to become a QA engineer and have started learning. Before I dive even deeper and spend more time learning I have a very important question that I am hoping that you have time to answer. I'm an American citizen living in Europe. I have a family of 4 and live in a very remote village and the nearest city is 3 hours away. Working remotely, from the start of my potential career, is super vital for me. Not because I just want to hang out at home, but because working away from home would be very difficult. My question "Is it possible for a future entry level QA engineer to get a job remotely?" If you don't think that it is, then what field within IT would you say is my best option? Any advice would be super appreciated. Thanking you very much in advance!!!!! Regards, Fil
@thetestlead17 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for reaching out and the support! I do think it is possible, but you have to have realistic expectations about pay and the hard work it takes to get your very first job. Your first job may not be ideal, because this is where the most competition is, but once you have your foot in the door can use experience from that job to leverage better opportunities in the future. This goes for QA and any IT job that has remote options.

All great points, particularly at the beginning with pointing out how flooded the QA market is now. Maybe I could have taken some of your tips at the end but ultimately I decided to go down the less saturated route of Linux Admin with a long term goal of DevOps.

@thetestlead It's been awesome and very interesting so far. I've been a regular Linux user for a couple years now so it was a natural choice for me. The automation skills I was learning with Python are also highly applicable to scripting in Sysadmin work.

@thetestleadАй бұрын
@@kamys6133 yeah definitely. Are you talking about new skillets, software testing in general, or adding new skills to your current software testing skills?
@kamys6133Ай бұрын
@thetestlead hey yes for software testing. For instance, I'm making sure to highlight my soft skills. But when it comes to showing work experience for what's technically required, I dont have that. So, I feel like it's hard for the resume to be pulled when specific requirements aren't there. Its like there's no chance in this market lol!

@thetestlead2 ай бұрын
For practice you can go to websites like this academybugs.com/find-bugs/ Do exploratory testing to learn about the website first. Then create a test plan with test cases and execute the test cases. Any bugs you find create bug reports file and document. If you or any of your friends own a website you can practice testing that out even go to local stores in your town and ask to test their website for free so you can gain experience. (Pitch them the pros of having their website tested and user friendly)
