Still enjoy driving my '88 IROC after 36yrs of ownership.

I liked the irocs and still do but my 87 SS Monte Carlo put them all in the rear view mirror in 1/8 mile. Even the 5.7 cars. Don't get me wrong those old cars turned on but so did mine. I was geared much lower but we had a blast street racing.

I would have said all EV a year ago, but my gut tells me now that this needs to be a 4 wheel hybrid with a plug and battery pack for 50 miles EV. That way the buyers (and others) are going to want it for the second car and they will get 50 daily miles to drop the kids at school in a cool vehicle and to hit the markets. Rivian, which is infinitely cool, can't manage to sell 50,000 a year, let alone VW's lofty goals of 250k a year. Problem is going to be the 40k number that would make this a winner. They should study what Ford did with the Maverick hybrid, loaded at just under 39 (add a roof and maybe it's 45? in the SUV model), with every option imaginable, and they can't make enough of them. No 10-15k battery pack, lol.

Going electric right now is not going to be profitable. They may want to rethink this and revive it as a 4 or 6 cylinder internal combustion vehicle. But they won't.

Ive got a stock 83 lg4 5speed with 65K on the clock. I did simple bolt on and 1.6rs to the motor and exhaust with full tubular suspension. the car feels really crazy. 3rd gear chirps and roll on burn outs in 1st. its probably like 6.5 to 60 but its low end monster.

I owened five VW's in my time, Super Beatle was the best, still have it! Electric Scout in my future, who know's, l trust Volkswagen!🙂👍. Thank's for the info. Steve

I wish they would have kept making the body style of the 2G Eclipse it is my favorite car ever!! I think it's sad that everyone just because they have families they all have to have SUVs and they give up on sports cars. I will never give up on my DSM or my JDM cars they are my favorite. I actually don't like all these SUVs and I do see them everywhere so I see why Mitsubishi did that 😢😭 💔 what's tuners we're always have our eclipse and talons in the true lovers of these cars will never let them die

Having grown up in the late sixties/early seventies, the prime years of the muscle car era Camaros, Mustangs, Cudas, Roadrunners and the rest the eighties were a bit of a let down. Styling took off though. By the time the IROC came out I'd already owned 4 Camaros, 2 '67s, a '74 and an '84 Z28 5.0 H.0. In early '85 I ordered one, 5.0 TPI. The difference between the regular Z and the IROC was noticeable right away. Instant response on the throttle and handling for sure.
