Great video and I bought the Ox Sweat set up based on your review quick question, I thought the stove came with an OX Sweat carry bag for the stove which I thought I was looking at in your video my package just arrived and no bag for the stove included… OX Sweat says it does not come with a bag for the stove because of the carry handles built in so are you using an aftermarket bag when you carry the stove into the tent in the video? And if it is, can you direct me to the one that you bought? much appreciate your response and great channel!

Thanks for the question and glad you like the channel. When I got mine it game with a bag, but maybe they stopped including bags since then. I guess it makes sense you really don't need a bag with the handles on the stove (and candidly, I have been concerned that the bag was going to rip under the weight of the stove). Enjoy your sauna!

When we connect more than one battery do we need additional bms to control the final circuit?.
@HemlockRidgeUSA
@HemlockRidgeUSA 29 күн бұрын
The trend now is many manufactures are putting a BMS into each individual battery. That way if you connect more than one if one battery is outside of temperature range, it will take itself offline. There are some nuances in how you connect them or how many you can connect however, so it's always best to check with the battery manufacturer's specs when connecting multiple batteries that each have an onboard BMS.

Sir your video is very helpful. I had a 750 watt inverter the only thing I had plugged in to it was an extension cord. Plugged in to that was a trickle charger, fluorescent lights and a fan. When it got cold an alarm would sound and inverter would shut down. Have you had this problem?
@HemlockRidgeUSA
@HemlockRidgeUSA 29 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I have not had that problem and frequently run my inverter when it's in the 20s. Is it possible that the cold is causing the voltage in the battery to drop below what's acceptable for the inverter to work and the inverter is alarming due to low input voltage and shutting down?
@josephdempsey400
@josephdempsey400 29 күн бұрын
No sir the battery is connected to a solar charger and it always charged. I replaced that inverter with a 2000 watt inverter. Is this something that can be connected to the battery and have items plugged in to it and run around the clock. This is for my generator shed.

An MPPT CC will preserve your battery, and is more efficient. The one you're using claims to be an MPPT, but is actually a PWM. I sure would risk a cabin fire with this $30 CC! I didn't notice a fuse in the positive cable either.

@HemlockRidgeUSA on Black Friday I picked up a 3 1/2 cubic foot chest deep freeze for 100 bucks.... And I bought one of those $20 plug-and-play thermostats online. Even in the short days and one 130 watt solar cell this thing keeps my food cold and it should last 20 plus years.... Why can't we harness the heat from our exhaust systems to make electricity out of? I have a little camp stove cooker that converts twigs into fire in the heat into power... Why isn't that technically more available?

The most economical thing is 3 layers of aluminum foil, + 4 magnets to hold everything, cover the oven by folding in 3 layers in INVERTED U for safe layers the oven = layer of air = better insulation of foil aluminum on the box, just the top and on each side left, right, not the door and bottom, At the bottom of the oven. 2 briquette-style bricks at a low price (With holes or full = longer, but more temperature stable) Enjoy your meal!

PEPPERMINT! Mice do not like the smell of peppermint. It's too strong of a scent for their olfactory system. I had mice getting into my old , truck so I bought some peppermint oil extract and put it on cotton balls and placed around the inside of the cab. Maybe plant some peppermint around your cabin. Please know this, members of the mint family can become invasive. use caution how you plant it. Good luck!

Sealing the cabin up for future infestations is nice. There are products that farmers use for mice and rats. One is called "Just One Bite" and others are similar. They are sticks flavored like honey and oats. They are a blood agent that takes 5 days to kill. The mice see it as a food source as it doesn't kill right away. They take it to the nests and feed the young with it. The whole colony is gone. I had this problem at my house in a small town. Put this stuff in the attic. Day 1 to 4, the bait moved. Day 5 and on, nothing moved. Same for the crawl space. Problem solved.

In the winter I run a deep cycle lead acid battery which is able to be charged in sub-freezing temperatures. Not as good as a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) but can be charged below freezing. If I was using Lithium I would need to stop charging below freezing or I would ruin the battery.

If you have a 12 volt system and you plan on just using 12 volt solar panels that are not going to have very long runs of wire - A PWM is a better choice - a 12 volt panel is going to generate 20 volts peak - The pwm will keep the voltage at 14.7 volts peak and reduce the current out put down to 25 milleamps per. 100 amps of battery once the battery is fully charged - With the 12 volt system were the solar panels are near the battery or batterys a PWM controller is a better choice - A good MPPT controller uses a transformer to step the voltage up or down from the solar panels - If you have five 100 watt panels that are 100 ft from the house its more efficient to hook them up in series to generate 100 volts - In that case a MPPT controller should be used - A PWM has almost no loss in power conversion compared to a MPPT controller - when used off 12 volt sollar panels to charge a battery of equal voltage - With a MPPT controler there will be up to 30% loss of energy when converting solar panel voltage to usable charging voltage to the battery or batterys - As ive said if the solar panels are at a distance say of more than 30ft from the battery a MPPT is a better choice - Also you should comnect the solar panels in series to supply a higher voltage to the MPPT controller - there will be a convertion loss from the higher voltage to a lower voltage - Also on Amazon there are PMW controllers sold as MPPT controlers for about $40 dollars - There not MPPT controlers there high end PWM controlers - you would need to look up on You Tube for a comparison of the two controlers - With a PWM any time you convert from a higher voltage to a lower voltage there can be a loss of 95% of the solar array out put - A PWM controler does not step down voltage through a transformation its a solid state switcher -

With any battery when there at the full capacity - a 100 AGM is rated from 12.8 volts to 0 volts so at the start of 12.8 to 0 volts the capacity is 100 amps - Most inverters and other devices cut off when a battery is half discharged - at 10.5 volts the battery is 50% disharged - a 100 amp battery thats under one yr old at full charge, only has 50 amps of usable capacity at full charge - if you do draw it down below 50% capacity or 10.5 volts - You will sharply decrease the life of the battery - In real life application a lead acid battery of any kind is cycled at 35% usable capacity these days - when used in off grid application - So that means at best a 100 amp battery will supply 35 amps of power daily - That would be 420 watts of power when cycled daily - Ideally you would charge the battey 4 hours a day at with a 10 amp charger daily - That would give you the 35 amps of operating capacity - most sail boats were people live on them away from docks - replace the 35% of the capacity of there batterys within 2 hrs a day - Each 100 amp battery is charged at 20 amps an hour - i live in the rural deep south US up till 1960 there was no grid power - Homes that had power had 6 volts or 32 volts DC - All the appliances in those homes were 6 or 32 volts DC - there were large banks of batterys that supplied the home power 5 to 6 days a week - Those house battery's were charged all day every Friday in winter and all day Friday and Monday in summer - Were I live at rural people started having farm light plants in the 1890s - You can look up farm light plants on the net to research rural living with power - In that case instead of using a acid of 1.275 strength - farm house battery's had a acid strength of 1.210 down here - battery with weak acid last a very. Long time - Exide farm house battery last for 50 to 70 yrs of cycling - To charge a battery 100% might take 24:hrs of generator run time - With lead acid batterys you do have to charge them 100% every 21 days so they don't sulfate - Because of. The humidity and cloud cover solar perform poorly down here -

@@HemlockRidgeUSAdown here it's a bit warmer - in my case were i need sealed battery's I'll use gel battery's over AGM batterys - AGM battery acid is a strength of 1.350 - Were as gel cell sealed battery acid is a strength of 1.250 - with the weaker acid they don't sulfate as easily - Also they often will cycle twice as much as AGMs do - another is they will often last 20 yrs - They have slightly less capacity compared to AGM batterys - but will except a charge at any temperature - you would need a charge controller for gel cells - the peak charge voltage is lower than a AGM battery - Down here lithium battery's will not charge on hot days on less in a air-condition space - So gel cells are often used -i have several of them - My family started working on farm house light plants 130 yrs ago - I started working on generators in the offshore oil field in the early 70s - so I know the INS and outs of power production -
