What do you do with extra fabric requirements for the quilting process. Need another 4 inches around the quilt but do not want it as a border which would take away from the brick look. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi! I am super glad to hear this was helpful. I tried to make a really comprehensive applique guide. As for the pen, I am using one I bougth from my local supply shop, but I can't really recommend it, as the lines disappear way too quick. I can come back to you once I find something decent on the market. Best Wishes!

Dear Dorothy, Thank you for letting me know! I have contacted my server provider for this! I hope this gets solved asap! You can also find the pattern on my etsy shop, here: www.etsy.com/shop/MagicLittleDreams Thank you for your appreciation! With the quilt I really aimed to portray that flowing feeling of lightness and connection with yourselves when listening to a song or a tune that really touches us to the core. I am not a musician myself and to hear from an actual musician that I hit the right string is very pleasing indeed! Thank You!!

Great video! Love your voice and easy to follow instructions. My critique is with your technique. I’m curious why you didn’t trim the bulk from the top branches? With hand appliqué there’s potential for unnecessary bulkiness and an uneven surface that will show wear on solid colors after a couple washings. I’ve not used fusing with my appliqué before, does it reduce or eliminate uneven surface? Is it soft or stiff? Thank you.
@MagicLittleDreams
@MagicLittleDreams 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate that you took the time to watch the video and give feedback! I indeed see the problem with turning a big chunk of fabric under an applique shape. The excess fabric may create markings on the dark solid fabric that washes more than the rest of the applique. Yet, the problem with trimming the seam allowance off for machine applique is that it is very hard to keep all the small fabric edges under the applique shape while sewing. As a result, some threads and raw edges are likely to stick out after stitching. Therefore, in the video I demonstrate, how to fold a large seam allowance in a way that does not create the bulkiness you are addressing. Using this folding method, the seam allowance fabric folds evenly and the edges of the folded fabric matches the edges of the applique shape. Thus, there are no disordered fabric folds that start to show after a couple of washes. I never had a problem with this method, as the tips of the trees will not wash more, than the rest of the applique. Having said that, even a single layer of seam allowance may become visible on darker solid fabrics after extensive washing. This is a general problem for places with seam allowance. Let me know what you think!
