VG Ronald

Wrong tool. The proper hand tool for that would be a two man bucking saw. If you need something lightweight and portable, get a bow saw that you can break down. These are very useful, I think, for sawing high limbs from the ground.

In the UK we still have a little bit of very precious offroad trail remaining. Responsible use is the only hope of retaining access. Be quiet, dont break traction and damage the surface, slow down to walking pace around people, stop for horses.

Thank you for this review. What about the suspensions compared to the Norden ones? Much less comfortable or is it flying over rocks, roots and potholes? I precise i never tried a 701 yet. Cheers from France 😉

He gets 12k out of a rear tire. I don’t think he can answer this. I’ve never owned a 901. My opinion of the 701 suspension is that it’s good in sweet zone. It is harsh when the pace comes down and when pushed it will start deflecting. I ended up doing a fair bit of work to the forks on mine.

Hi, absolutely great video! I also own a 2023 Husqvarna 701, and it's a fantastic bike. We just got back from a Baltic trip through Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and, of course, Sweden. The TETs in Sweden can be a bit boring for the H701; these bikes definitely prefer more challenging terrain than constant gravel and tarmac. I switched to a Seat Concepts seat about a year ago and, though I cried about the price at first, my backside thanks me on longer trails now! All the best!

I 100% second this! I feel like my bike is on the threshold of the most noisy I want it to be. Even, given the opportunity I'd rather have a slightly quieter exhaust or even same as stock.

Many hikers and mountain bikers are going to hate you regardless of what you do. They view any noise, smell, or trail marking as unacceptable out in nature. I'm in a very wealthy mountain town in the US and the hikers hate me, it's very clear when I run into them on the trails. My bike is not loud BTW, 2 stroke 300 with a stock exhaust typically running in the bottom of the RPM range to maintain traction on steep and rocky mountain climbs.

I would actually be down for an electric bike, because of these reasons. But the technology is just not there yet to ride a full day (and there is no model available in the dualsport category afaik).
@ogasi1798Ай бұрын
this is the way they want you to think, thus you become a marginal voice that is now a convert and even one who is a user of such vehicles can see they are bad - if you believe for one minute owning quiet bikes would stop trail bike hate you need to give your head a long and hard wobble
@razvanpat2211Ай бұрын
This is why I advocate for noise cameras even though I am a motorcyclist. If we lose the right to use our motorcycles because too many people get pissed off, we will never get it back again! We need to get rid of hooligans if we want motorcycling to still have a place on the roads.
@kongwashereАй бұрын
So true. I am a biker, too, and wished my scrambler would be quieter, not louder. As a penalty for those hotheads I suggest to have them spend a full summer living on the main road in a village like Innertkirchen (CH), where on nice days thousands of motorcycles are passing by on their way to either Grimsel- or Sustenpass. Bedroom to the street. I almost guarantee that their claim, „sound“ would be an expression of their freedom, changes quickly once they are on the involuntary receiving end.
@Michele-ue5euАй бұрын
I am surprised this is unpopular, how can you not see that you are ruining the hobby for everyone with your loud bike. Sometimes I am on some very nice roads in the nature, I stop and everything is so silent and calm, but there is that asshole 5 kms away ripping his bike backfiring on every downshift

Another advantage of quite motorcycles on adventure rides on unpaved roads is seeing more wildlife. More of an opportunity to get closer to nature. Which is one of the reasons I do this type of riding.

Well the thing the Austrian ruling is: I can meassure an idling motorcycle very consistant. I don't have to rev it, because every motorcycle has a different rev range. Besides that I do think that this is just a bandaid law to get people to shut up about it. I don't really assume that many motorcycles would really be that loud in idle. I'm living in Germany, in the black forrest region. Once a road get's too loud and annoing they put up speed signs. Most villilages have tempo 30 now, because of "noise protection" or "street damages". But, on certain popular pieces of open road they have limit 60 km/h because of us. My personal standpoint is, that we are the minority. We anoy people; we are loud, the emergency services have to scrape us off the roads(4128 accidents in black forrest region alone in 2023), we scare car drivers. We are treading on thin ice and we are about to lose the last bit of acceptance. I'm totally on your side.

As someone who has both ridden trails since I was a kid, and also lobbied for closing some trails next to a housing development, I totally agree with this. In fact, my argument would be that we might be able to create urban trails similar to bike trails if we limit them to electric motorcycles. There is opportunity here.

As a performance and power guy, I've never understood the appeal of attracting as much attention as possible. The ego necessary to think that everyone needs to hear/see you riding (or driving, car people do it too) is absolutely wild.

Agreed, 100%. Everyone not agreeing should sit at the entrance of the Tannheimer Tal in Tirol for an hour, on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Or on any other of the countless locations that suffer the same. It's not only about loud pipes. Good point, although it's also about how you ride with a louder bike rather than just the muffler or lack thereof. A bike with a loud exhaust isn't nearly as intrusive if you keep the revs down, upshift early and ride calmly. I would in fact think that the combination of loud bikes being ridden recklessly (speeding, weaving, passing dangerously, wheelies... you get the point) is the worst when it comes to making people think bad of us motorcyclists.
@Michele-ue5euАй бұрын
Kind of not the point, also if you think you are being silent with a loud exhaust going slowly you are either delusional or you just like chucking yourself when riding

I love a loud pipe, but you have to also see others prospective, its pretty easy keep the volume down in towns and around others, don't rev the shit out of your bike to look "cool". Anyone that can't see how it's a bad look is just the true epitome of a self centred wanker.

I have the '24 Norden Exp. Only complaint is the seat gets painful after 4hrs in the saddle. Will be adding taller risers in the future as I'm not as interested in looking like a competitor than being more comfortable on long stretches. These bikes sweep through corners & the option to hit the woods when the traffic jams up is always a plus. Your right about all plastic hand guards, $100 US per pair is a bit much. For the most part these bikes are a tad expensive up front & for on going maintenance (mandatory service intervals) Other than that they are a lot of fun. Thnx for your honest user videos.
