Unless this girl sues the police dept and the joker who pulled her over, nothing is likey to become of it. Its also troubling that the police chief claimed there was nothing wrong with the video footage, combined with the Town Council wanting to push it out of the way. A civil rights attorney could teach them all what consequences are.

Even if she was not immediately obedient, opening the door and dragging her out in lest than 90 seconds is a huge overreaction. I've seen clips of people who were rude, drunk, uncooperative, and pulled over for far more serious offenses, and most officers are surprisingly patient and restrained with them, even the sovereign citizens. I have no idea what she said or did, but obnoxious teenagers are part of the job.

Forgive me for sounding ignorant. But I was a deputy US Marshal for 7 years. So we didn't conduct the typical traffic stops for speeding or anything of the such. However, was she arguing with the officer as to whether or not she was going to give the officer her driver's license as required per the state statute? I would really like to see the officer's bodycam. If she was arguing and the officer gave her a warning that failing to produce her license would result in her being arrested, then you can't say that she wasn't warned. Now if she was simply looking for her license and not arguing and the officer lost his patience then he absolutely needed to be fired and possibly charged with assault. Either way, it's a sad situation that could have been dealt with differently. Need the body cam. Or can anyone please give me more information on this situation, please?

I think he did his job. To everyone saying he was wrong or that he is a bad cop, maybe you should do the job if you are so good at knowing what and how to handle it. Or come do a few ride-alongs. Now, I do think he could have slowed down and tried to talk to her a little more, but like you, I was not there and do not know everything that was going on. But all in all, he did his job.

As a retired State Trooper this is abuse of power and assault. He doesn't need to be in this line of work! Way too aggressive and is a liability to the city & state! Furthermore, he is a liar & if I were stopped and treated this way it would have ended with him in cuffs and placed in his own cruiser till his supervisor could come to the scene! He probably has always been a bully and never had the brakes beat off him in the street! As a father myself if an officer touched my daughter this way after she hadn't resisted him or became violent.….I might be the one in jail for beating his ass! Useless in law enforcement, in my career over 20 years I found most ppl will comply if you treat them with respect and dignity, just as we want to be treated. I would sue him & the dept for excessive force along with causing mental health issues which can lead to PTSD over an act like this to a young lady or young man who is a law-abiding citizen. It puts a black eye on law enforcement as a whole.
