" Kay, every night here in Sicily all I dream about is my wife and children and how I lost them. Don't dread me any more Kay I love you "... says Michael to Kay later in the movie. Only when the lyrics to a song said " What I thirst for love and she thirst for water " he remembered Apollonia. Thirsty for love means he needs sex Thirsty for water means YOUNG That is why he remembered her, he remembered a young girl who he married, who he had to marry since there is no sex before marriage in Sicily because he was thirsty for love. B. Terra is a proof Michael only had physical act of love with Apollonia. Conversation Michael had with his children wasn't emotional moment but attempt to convince Mary not to sleep with Vincent. Through a very next scene, scene with Altobelo and Vincent Coppola practically explains to people how Michael came into Apollonias house and conned her into marriage.....the way Vincent conned Altobelo. Coppola mocks people who think that was love....... Those who think it was are as " wise" as Altobelo. ... Apollonia was portrayed ( just like in a book and in gf1) as a child, physical act of aka sex, something wrong, shameful, a sin beyond redemption....... sin for which he payed.
