I was thinking perhaps it would be possible to cut a bit of a hinge down the middle of the liner where it could bend upwards easier. May not work anyway as it may just be the added weight of the liner that is too much for the trunk struts to hold up. Wonder if TripleAliner tried something like that.

Hi Bob - Any tips for ensuring you get all the fluid out of the new quarts using that pump? I have the same pump and the short extension piece is too short (doesn't get to the bottom of the quart) and the long extension is too long. I found myself scrambling a bit during the job and ended up trimming the longer extension but then it popped off while inside the quart...lol... long story short I got the job done but it wasn't pretty. Thanks!

I don't recall having any difficulty letting the long tube go into one corner of the bottle and then screwing the pump on. I just tilted the bottle so the corner with the tube was at the bottom and I get almost all of the fluid transferred from the bottle.

I'm not an electrician or electrical engineer, but here's the owner's manual for the RYI150C. 556aa8d9de68ea9c4f29-0a8acad11a4df5016d26cc39a7429843.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/2/RYi150C_095930383_528_trilingual_04.pdf If you knew the power draw of your security camera I think you could estimate how long any given Ryobi battery could run it. A computer uninterruptible power supply (UPS) would probably be a better choice since they are available with much larger capacity batteries, a UPS would also protect your security camera from power surges and a UPS would automatically kick in once the power went out and then automatically recharge when the power comes back on.

If you have access to a 12v 'car' battery on your boat I'd suggest using that as your power source with a small 12v to 120v inverter since it will have a LOT more capacity than the 18v Ryobi power tool batteries. I've powered a 15" portable computer monitor with the Ryobi unit for a short period of time, so it might work with a 27" TV, but it might drain the 18v batteries pretty quick.

I have these they’re my favorite for my music taste. I have focal Chora 826D for movies and music . I like the Choras too but very different . If you’re still searching for check out the Theva’s from Focal as they replaced the Chora’s and may be a tad better maybe . The numbers look the same but I’d think Focal would release an improved replacement . I really like both . They are Focals entry and I just can’t get over how much I like them . I won’t get the Theva’s as I paid around $450 for 2 Chora 826 D’s each . The Theva equivalent is $3K a pair . For the Polks I’m looking to improve them with two REL Classic 99 subs , & for the Choras I am ordering 2 REL T9x subs in October when the Tx series goes on sale . Good luck fun review

Thanks for the tips. I know Focal drivers are favorites among car audio enthusiast, but for some reason their home speakers haven't been on my radar. I've upgraded my amp and cd/DAC with Marantz Model 30 and CD50n and that has really improved the sound of my old speakers. I've put my speaker search on hold for now, but I may start looking again down the road.

Thanks for your review, opinions, and recommendations on both Marantz pieces. I've been reading and watching a lot of videos on the model 30 and am thinking about picking one up. I also just saw it and listened to it a bit in best buy today. It's a beautiful piece and built like a tank. It's nice to know the 50n pairs well with the model 30 and the remotes works for both units. I'd love to have the 30n SACD player, but don't think I can handle the $1000 premium for just a few small upgrades. Just an idea. I read online somewhere that might take the edge off the CD players brightness is to connect the cd player to a different input. I read somewhere that I can't recall the CD input comes across a bit more detailed and brighter than the other inputs. It might not be the most ideal fix, but if it helps you enjoy the music more It could be worth switching inputs or at least trying out.

There is no such thing as too much bass from a speaker without a subwoofer. Many swear that Andrew Jones's last floorstanding Mofi would be the perfect speaker and the only speakers anybody would need/want/own forever
@Koolbob2
@Koolbob2 10 күн бұрын
Hmmm, yes and no. I love hearing deeeep, tight bass when it's supposed to be there. My speakers are rated down to 36hz +/- 3db and they do sound even better with my REL TX7 sub crossed over at 30hz so it augments where the main speakers roll off without being too boomy. I have a low tolerance for boomy bass, especially in the 60-180hz range, that is disproportionate with the rest of the frequencies. For me the R700s were too thick and slow on the lower end and sounded thin in the midrange and upper end. The only thing that matters in this hobby is that you enjoy listening to whatever equipment you have.
@motorax.service.motociclete
@motorax.service.motociclete 10 күн бұрын
@@Koolbob2 indeed you have to enjoy listening, but if a speaker is rated 37hz for ex that doesn't mean will actually play 37 hz in any room/music, not at all. and the Roll-off will be higher anyway, probably around 45-60 hz. That may vary a lot. If you set a low pass filter on the sub on 30hz you'll have a gap between that roll off frq of the speakers and subwoofer's peak/HP roll-off. Usually speakers are boomy by themselves because of the construction: bad drivers or wrong sized enclosure most of the time, too little air space. If a speaker is built corectly which these polk certainly are in a very rigid and sturdy cabinet with enough enclosure size boomyness often comes from the room, placement/furniture etc. Even if a speaker doesn't have a back side port, placing it closer to the wall would make it boomy. SVS's last model of floorstanding speakers really go down to 30hz, but they have a different design and also 4 bass speakers. For example A 12 inch subwoofer in a sealed enclosure is closer to being boomy in a room, because of the size of the enclosure. a 12inch usually needs about 50-60 liters enclosure or even more if it's a long throw design. unless it's a shallow sub that can work in a 20 liters for example and also being engineered for that tight space with high Qts spec and other TS parameters. By the design of the Polk i agree with you the midrange should be improved. Also a bigger size midrange speaker would have been better to keep up with those bass drivers. I am certain Polk tried to combine best of both worlds like Hi-Fi and Cinema. They have a also surround and center channel in this serie and Home Cinema audience is very wide. Most people i guess will be using these with AV Receivers not amplifiers, even though a pair of monoblocks would be best
@Koolbob2
@Koolbob2 9 күн бұрын
@@motorax.service.motociclete Yes, you are correct, my speaker is rated down to 36hz +/- 3db. That means it is capable of reproducing bass down to 36hz at 3db lower volume than its average output over the range from 36hz to 20,000hz. I've set my REL sub to its lowest crossover point so it augments the very lowest frequencies that are below my main speaker's capabilities with minimal overlap between the subwoofer and main speakers. The challenge for me is the Omni Sound TCM3 speakers I have were handmade in the 90's by an electrical engineer who was already well renowned in the audiophile community for the interconnects he designed and built. He owned Omni Sound audio boutique in Dallas and sold Theil and B+W speakers. He decided he could build better speaker using the best crossover components, wire, cabinet materials, dampening materials and drivers available at the time. I was in the right place at the right time and bought one of his final prototypes off the showroom floor because they sounded better than any other speaker at twice the price. They are rated at 92db @ 1 watt-meter, so 100wpc is way more than enough. The R700, like every other retail speaker is built with compromises to hit a certain price point. The R700s for example typically sells for around $1,200ea. The dealer mark up is about 50%, so Polk is selling them to the retailer for about $600ea. Polk is making about 50% profit, so Polk keeps the cost down to about $300 to build each R700. Speaker design and drivers have come a long way since the TCM3s were made, so I know there are lots of better sounding speakers on the market today. My mistake was expecting to upgrade to a better speaker in the $2,000-$4,000 range. I am going to focus on speakers in the $5,000 and up range to see if I can improve on what I have.

Thank you! My Ridgeline is coming up on 6-years old and it still puts a smile on my face every time I look at it or drive it. Using the foam gun didn't save me any time over my usual bucket wash routine, but there are some definite upsides. #1 - It's a lot easier to move around the truck with the Uberflex hose than it is to use my garden hose. #2 - I'm able to get the fender wells, rocker panels, bed, back bumper, cowl area, wheels and tires cleaner and with less effort than I ever could with a garden hose. #3 - The Griot's Snow Foam is really slick and cleans the surface much better than the Griot's Ceramic Wash and Coat ever did. #4 -I now have the option of doing a 'touchless' wash in my driveway if the vehicle only needs a light cleaning.

Does this cover stop the trunk from fully opening?
@Koolbob2
@Koolbob2 12 күн бұрын
Every rigid bed cover requires a pair of rigid rails to be attached to the sides of the bed. All bed rails will prevent the trunk lid from opening 100%. The reduction in the opening of the trunk lid is minimal (10-15%). I can still access the spare tire and everything in the trunk. The only downside I've experienced is the lid no longer opens completely past the lights inside the truck bed. It partially blocks the lights when fully opened with the BakFlip installed. So at night the lights do not illuminate inside the trunk as well. That's why I added a pair of LED lights to my trunk lid and wired them into the OEM bed lights.

I often use my iPhone or iPad Pro to access Apple’s lossless streaming service. Connected via my DDC into a premium quality DAC, which is connected to my preamp and the rest of my hi-fi rig. My DAC’s remote control allows me to pause tracks, cycle back or forward through my play list or album. ‘Hey Siri’ negates the need for any type of keyboard or other remote equipment or dodgy apps. Simply call out ‘Hey Sirri, play 1 love by U2’, or ‘Hey Siri, play some classic rock’, and your wish is seamlessly granted. Switch your iPad or iPhone into aeroplane mode to avoid any disturbances, or ‘do not disturb if you want a more personalised listening experience. I tend to have my 12.9 inch iPad Pro connected to my hifi by a very short interconnect. The screen is sufficiently large for me to be able to read it from my listening position. If you use this method, don’t forget to disable the ‘Hey Siri’ facility on your iPhone, or it will react every time you give instructions to your iPad. I am also reliably informed that using your Apple TV facility is an excellent media for feeding Apple’s lossless music to your hi-fi. Hope this helps?

Thanks, I realize now I didn't cover this in my video. I've tried commanding my iPad with 'Hey Siri' commands, but inevitably my Apple Watch or iPhone respond since they are closer to me. Even covering my watch with my hand and having my phone in my pocket doesn't help since I have to speak so loud for the iPad to hear me. :) Using the airplane mode on my iPhone/Watch is a good suggestion. Thanks! I have also thought that I may be able to set an alternative command to summon Siri on my Watch/iPhone, but I suspect Apple will migrate the new Siri command to my iPad as well since they are all connected to the same Apple account. I do have an extra Apple TV device, but my DAC lacks an HDMI input.

@@Koolbob2 if you go into settings on your iPhone, you can disable ‘Hey Siri’. The facility will still be available either by short pressing the side button or home, depending on which iPhone you’re currently using. When I’m listening to music, I pause the track, or hit the mute button prior to activating ‘Hey Siri’. It negates the need to raise your voice. Do you not have an optical out on your Apple TV, you could use to connect to your DAC?

@@howardskeivys4184 I punted the idea of using the Apple TV since it doesn't support sample rates above 48khz, but seeing how little music is sampled above 48khz in Apple Music I may reconsider it. I use 'Hey Siri' frequently on my phone, I'm expecting to receive a new phone next week and I may shut off 'Hey Siri' and see how much of an inconvenience it is to press the button. I committed to trading in my iPhone 13Pro when I discovered I could get a $1k credit for it towards my new phone, so won't be using the old phone with the stereo after all. Voice commanding the iPad is a viable option, but I sure would have loved to browse albums visually from an iPad in my listening spot.

Oh man that Mac mini solution with dongles and apps trying to remote into it is so convoluted, it reminds me of the setup I build 15-20 years ago with a Mac running iTunes, connecting to Airport Express routers in the house, each of them connecting to an amp driving a speaker. I was using apps like Airfoil on my iPod touch at the time to control iTunes on my Mac, etc. Years later, Apple Music is no better than iTunes was back then. I was able to stream and use my iPhone as a remote with the Rdio service way back in 2012. I could be at work, see what's playing at home and change the songs remotely to drive my wife crazy! Today, Spotify is so much better for this. I subscribe to both Spotify and Apple Music. When streaming quality isn't important, I use Spotify with Amazon Echo speakers throughout my home. I can ask Alexa to play Spotify in whatever room I want and I can use the Spotify app on my Mac, iPhone or iPad as a remote; it works flawlessly. When I want to listen to quality lossless / hi-res music, I use Apple Music on my Mac or iPad with balanced headphones via a DAC, but you could use HiFi speakers like you do. Spotify has been saying for some time that they'll come up with a lossless offering eventually, even though it's been pushed and pushed for three years at least. They recently announced that the release of Spotify HiFi is imminent. That would make it a lot easier for you to use the Spotify app on your iPhone to control what's playing on your iPad, Mac or something else. Don't waste time and money with third-party apps, remote desktop setups, external proprietary boxes and dongles; they're not worth the effort to set them up properly and you can't trust the vendors and developers to keep them updated and working with newer versions of iOS and macOS coming out every year, so what's kind of working today may not work at all next year.

I forgot to mention that I added the door check stops for the Ridgeline front doors to the rear doors, now mine open much wider. Not sure I understand what you mean "Do you know of a mod to allow a slower opening vs slamming opening?".

@@Koolbob2 sorry, the tailgate needs a dampener to slowly open vs falling open.

@@bradberlin4137 That's been discussed on a few forums for years. So far no one has figured out how it would be possible given the dual action of the tailgate.

Just search for multi-connector cable on Amazon or I've answered that question many times in the comments below for links to the cable.

Thanks for an imformaive & helpful video. Why did Honda choose to make such an important thing as the battery so inaccessible? I love Hondas but I've been spoilt on the simplicity and ease of use of Subarus. I live in a very cold area and need to put my battery on a maintainer / tender most nights. Do you think it would be possible to have some cables attached to the battery that I could then easily connect to the tender without having to take off the air intake? Thanks

Hi and thanks for the great video! Just purchased a 2025 sport touring hybrid and want to replace the mirror for the homelink. Did you need to disconnect the negative on the battery before install? Thanks again!

Another suggestion is to level out vehicle with a floor jack in rear. This will allow more fluid to exit. I measured mine and I was just short of 3 liters removed.

Everyone I see review one of these talks about their customer service. That alone should make people look hard at these covers. Mine will be installed next week, yeah I could have installed it but they said the warranty doubles if they install it.

Very good instructional video! I am guessing that only the Walmarts that have auto care centers would have the Everstart batteries or did you order it online from Walmart? I see that AGM batteries can be shipped (free). I assume battery arrives freshly charged and ready for installation?

Thanks for letting me know the video was helpful. Our Walmart has an auto service center and I don't recall ever going to one that didn't have a service center. :) If you're planning to keep your vehicle more than a year or two I think it's worth paying a bit more for the AGM battery. I assume it would arrive with enough charge to start the vehicle, if you don't have a battery charger then I'd avoid starting the truck and then turning it off until you can drive it for 20 minutes or so to give the battery a good charge.
