I started back in 2013 and completed 95% of the, then, star chart with no online help. Either in game or any other resources. I find learning on my own how to use mods on fames/weapons/companions more useful than looking online for builds. If you just copy builds told to you by Warframe vets you learn nothing. Not to say that I am actually skilled at builds but I get by with pretty much doing everything (save relics) on my own. I like it that way personally. Also Ember isn't my favorite frame. Excalibur is. With Proto Skin.

The hardest part is that as a long term player we grew up with the game. So some of us don't really know how to start at the beginning with all the extra stuff on top. I only just recently had the chance to play the beginning stuff again as my nephew wanted to play so he was asking me how to play. It was a bit weird as it was very different to what I remembered when I started. But, it wasn't too hard. I think a challenge with this game is that it doesn't tell you everything so as to not spoil story and it doesn't really hold your hand at all. It is a very valid critique too. My best statement regarding what warframe is, is that it's a large physics sandbox with awesome looking space ninjas where the whole goal of the game is to right injustices wrought by the orokin, discombobulate enemies in a variety of ways, and finally, the end game. Fashion Frame. You do all the hard work just to look pretty while killing more stuff and saving more peeps from the bad guys. Rinse. Repeat. If it's not your style then thats fine, however I really think the game grows on you as you play more and you get up to speed on stuff. (Hint: get your corrupted mods from vaults, farm relics to farm for plat, profit). You're gonna need a lot of plat to expand your arsenal over time and to accessorize. And don't be afraid to ask for help! This game isn't really meant to be a traditional looter shooter. It's all us tenno baby, and grown up who make it what it is. Have a great time.

Not sure if I would be considered a vet, I joined a bit late (2015) but I have most of the mods, all of the primes and warframes. The only advice is it's a video game, if you are having fun, you are doing it right. This game has too many overlapping mechanics and it's the worst part of warframe for newer players. The wiki shouldn't have to exist, you should be able to figure out how to get the gear you want as well. That being said, I still use the wiki, and I really hate that shit man. Take your time, there is no rush, the only person you are speed running is yourself. There's no reason to jump around through content like you have to do so. I didn't complete the star chart for several years ffs. I'm trying to get my brother to play and it's not easy. I don't know where to start with him and honestly I let him try railjack without telling him he needed to mod his ship via our dojo and I really should've guided him in that regard. People need to chill, warframe is not at all an easy game to get into, even Rebecca has admitted this. So guys, if you are going to be toxic, maybe listen to the lead of the game at this point and the previous community manager. She knows what she's talking about lol Zavienne is saying the same things and you guys need to actually listen and try to understand.

If noone explained what was going on yet; Basically stuff that was hinted throughout the game is that the Orokin, Leaders of humanity that pretty much made themselves Greek gods reached it´s limits in the Solar system, so they send Artificial machines to prep the journey with solar rails, the junctions you unlock in the game. These machines gained Conciousness, calling themselves sentient decided to combat the potential ruin of an untouched Galaxy. The Orokin pretty much went "fuck it" and sent the Zariman Ten-Zero, a colonization ship traveling freely in the void, except it got lost there and well, the only survivors were the children. Us Tenno. The Orokin were split between completely eradicating them, but Margulis treated the Tenno with Somatic therapy, letting us live in an amnesia-fluid dream, repressing our Trauma and coping with our Unreal power here on Lua. Eventually the Sentients came to take out the Orokin empire, meaning all human life (a lil extreme). The Orokin´s efforts to fight the Invasion, the Void-powered Necramechs, and releasing the Technocyte virus (infestation) on loosing battles... But nothing worked. They wanted to use the Tenno to controll the Warframes with this Somatic link, Transfering conciousness into these Golems to be theyr winning Warriors. Margulis defied them, and was Executed for this, resulting in the Orokin having theyr Child-soldiers. ; Natah, the Daughter of Sentient Hunhow was a measure to infiltrate Lua, and destroy the Tenno at the weakspot, how they got wind of the Tenno´s real body is unknow; -This part is unclear; Natah likely met Margulis, and drew her Lotus Persona from her love to the Tenno, resulting in the Fall of the defeat of the Sentient, but soon after fall of the Orokin. For The moon in the void: side-note it´s kinda strange we got no name for earth´s moon, since we gave one to every other moon apparently. Mainly the Void is not a place, it´s a Film, a plain severed from reality, Physics and Cause. So the Moon wasn´t really gone, but more Glitched from reality, Shroedingers cat; the universe doesn´t know if it´s still there or gone and can´t act that way. Also; i don´t wanna be mean but if you didn´t realize the new planet on your star-chart, and get distracted by da bewbs (i don´t blame you), you MIIIGHT not have paid attention before. Which is fair, game throws shit on you without breathing-space.

You’ve actually stumped me, because even though I’ve played this game for over a decade I still don’t know when you understand it (or if I even understand it). That’s probably because there are so many things to Warframe that make it tick, like the fluidity of gameplay, the fashion, the OST, the story, the community, the dev team, the variety. All I can say is that even though Warframe has a lot of systems, they all come together and make a sum greater than the parts.

Truly getting warframe is a fleeting thing. The first time I played it, I did so for around 300 hours and quit, I don't know for how long but when I came back I remembered almost nothing of it. Mind you, this was years before the introduction of the cinematic quests. The second time around, I slowly began I began to understand more and more of the game until I reached a point where I just got it. It is not an understanding of the story, nor studying how systems work that you get warframe, nor is it something that takes a predetermined amount of time. I've seen people get warframe on their first try around, while I also remember someone reinstalling it 7 times before they got it. Getting warframe is almost indescribable. It's a feeling you have that's just there when you want to call for it. This might seem like looney talk, but ever since I heard the phrase "getting warframe", I immediately understood what it meant and knew that I got it. Honestly, I've no idea what it takes to get warframe nowadays, but my best advice would probably be to not worry about it, go through the game as a whisp, do the things that seem interesting to you, look stuff that you're interested in up, push yourself and discover new things, take breaks if that's what you wish, and one day you might just get warframe.

It takes a very long time to absorb the sheer amount of information that this 57 games in a trench coat requires. Even when you start thinking "now I get it!": you know all the missions, played all the quests, got a bunch of gear that makes you able to easily complete everything you want, understand the story as much as you care to, you can do level cap content (which unfortunately is much less of an achievement these days) - you've only reached a false plateau, after which (if you want) you can start to learn about the "details" such as unintended mechanics and bugs (e.g Multi CO, Heat Inherit, Multi Crit etc.) In my experience the only way to truly learn this game is: 1. Put an ungodly amount of hours into gradually learning the basic and intermediate things 2. Read and watch other people's content about the advanced things. To learn on your own is unlikely - it's like if you wanted to re-discover all of humanity's science yourself, rather than learning what was done already. As for "the reason for it all"? For me the reason to play is the completionist mindset, which I have to say is more common than for most games.

I have 4k hours in Warframe across half the game's life span. I really think that the point of Warframe is just... whatever you make it? Even if that is cheesey as shit. The story is erratic because it's been told through Codex entries, events that won't return, and the quests that have little hidden things for you to see to piece together parts of the story. Like the story fragments scattered around Duviri reveal the stories of who the Drifter is, how Teshin got there, everything. The Cephalon Fragments in the starchart give you info about the planets, sure, but there's a secret "button" in them and Ordis tells a story as his memory is recovered. It's a lot of disjointed, but deep, stories that slowly link together, but you kinda sorta NEED help to get to the point of connecting it all at a certain level. The gameplay is more where your focus can shift. For the first 1k hours or so, I wanted to get EVERY Warframe. Then when I did that, I wanted to get every item in the game. I'm currently like... 489/512-ish? Getting good at certain characters, making setups between unique equipment, looking on the Wiki (where we now have an official wiki HELL YEA) to see what other stuff you can do and just throw yourself in with no prep and see what it's like. Then just throw a dart blindly and dive into what you want. The only way to fill out the map of your own enjoyment is by exploring these systems you know nothing about. Take your time. The game's not going anywhere. There is no rush to get to endgame or do 5x3 Tridolon hunts or speedrun Profit Taker. Grind levels while listening to the 8.5 hour lore explaination by SocraTetris. Look into decorating your orbiter just for the hell of it. "What to do" doesn't matter nearly as much as "Am I having fun?" and, if you're not, you can always try something new. Or put the game down and come back. Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but it's the best advice I have.
@MorklebBlack2 күн бұрын
I think there's a lot of pressure for a new person to 'get' it right away, and I don't really know what the 'get' is. There's lots of systems. They're fun. Play with them. See which ones you like. Ask questions. Explore. I've said multiple times that if I started Warframe now, I'd be completely overwhelmed. It's hard to create a one-size-fits-all tutorial for something that's a disconnected kraken of game modes.
@TotallyDapper2 күн бұрын
I felt like I understood the mechanics when I could look at a weapon’s stats and know how to mod it without relying on automod. I have kept learning more about the game, of course, but that’s when I felt like I understood it. The Second Dream into the whole New War arc is when I felt like I understood the story. There were still mysteries, of course, but I could look at something new and see how it connected back to everything else.

1. Every update breaks my understanding. Don’t worry about it. 2. The point of grinding in WF is to get the things you want, then stop playing for a week or so. 3. The story in the first half of WF is just for Steve to flex his writing skills. The 3rd quarter is for them to finally kick him out and make a good story, and the most recent is Rebecca hitting her stride as creative head. 4. The wiki is my best option to find stuff. KZbinrs are my second option for guides, just gotta find the 5 min or less videos. 5. Login day 500 seems to be around when I figured out what I was doing. Kinda. 6. Zephyr is best frame.

Rebecca Ford, the games creative director (and our spacemom!), was on-stage at the Game Awards this past December. She said "If you don't know what Warframe is, we don't know anymore either, but we're still having fun making it" All the systems working together will begin to make sense as you get higher mastery rank and move through the star chart, and especially once you get "current" with quests and just have time to grind. I even took an extended break about 5-7 years ago, but even though I was fully caught-up and understood everything before I left, I was still fairly confused about some things until I got current again. A good chunk of your answers might be in the quests you haven't finished, even the "side quests" can be pretty important, depending on what you're looking for. As our spacemom said, Warframe has tendency to change drastically every 2 years or so with each major update, so "being lost" often doesn't go away entirely. It's certainly a lot to understand and you can take some comfort in knowing that many veterans are lost at time too. Instead of trying to understand "the whole picture", just work on one piece at a time, and eventually you'll complete the canvas.

The people who don't have someone to ask about wtf to do and don't read the wiki quit. I don't see how your community telling you how something works is different to looking it up on the wiki, its still reading after all. You might start feeling like you know what you're doing after you complete every node in the starchart, fuck around with arbitarations for tens of hours do some steel path and watch devstreams i have over 1.5k hours, my friend has 1k more than me and we still learn things that are pretty important like once a month. I don't think the writing team fully understand the story so I don't think you should worry about that too much. they make a branch of the story, tie it into gameplay and sometimes just leave it without any sort of conclusion and just move on to a different branch

honestly I can understand that the game not teaching people how things works is very annoying, over the years they have been doing some QOL changes but a lot more needs to be done to better explain to people how the game work. I have 1,500 hours in the game and I still don't understand some aspects of the game cause I chose not to engage with it unless I wanted or needed to. This game is a lot, but I'm sure you'll have fun learning and growing with the game as you come to understand it bit by bit.

2 weeks to late to comment but the algorhythm giveth and the algorhythm taketh. It saddens me to hear that a lot of people dont resonate with the story or hate it even. I think Warframe has one of the best video game lores ever, imo up there with League of Legends and the like. Ballas is a villain that deserves a spot alongsides gamings biggest bads like Vaas and GlaDos and Andrew Ryan. But Warframes story demands a certain amount of media literacy (ik the term is overused) and maturity. also I get the confusion at times because the lore tidbits can be all over the place like the codex and some events that arent playable anymore and you would literally have to read those up on the wiki, alongside the starchart being a bit out of place like when you kill Cpt Vor and then... kill him again later and I get that it makes it hard to follow and people just end up not caring because of it, but its like the digging meme where the guy gives up inches before hitting diamonds. It took me a long time to really understand WFs mechanics, I am LR2 now with almost 2k hours in the game, once it clicked I got addicted to it, but the first few steps are always the hardest. I think its just a 'me' thing that I just got so invested into the game that I just sucked up every bit of information about the lore and mechanics and researched them on my own, but you cant just demand every new player to just do that, I understand that. The game can be overwhelming, but its a marathon, not a sprint, you shouldnt feel like you need to catch up to others cuz there is no real endgame anyway, there is no price to make your numbers go higher, people get more compliments for their fashion frame than their damage output. taking one mechanic at the time is a good adivce and something I did too. There were times when I would just hold off on finishing more story quests until I felt ready, there were days where I would just mine some materials or gather standing with a faction or just fish for my fish tank instead of jumping into the next big story quest. not 100 words but I know you can read!

warframe is not a solo game, if you need help or have a question, there is a ton of player (a lot of veteran)who are ready, and somes like me enjoying giving tips, and help others, i don't think there is a moment when you trully, fully understand warframe, yeah after doing the same type of mission tens if not hundreds of time, you know exactly what to do, how to do it, how to min max your investment, etc, but it is just not fun, for me, the best way to play warframe, would be to play moderatly, focus on the quest, and never be afraid of asking for help.

Well you don't really understand the story of this game because realistically there is none, the way the game presents its story ends up being very pretentious so it's best if you either google the lore or ignore it completely. The best way to play the game is to unlock stuff you find fun, either be warframes or guns, the fun emanates from trying out new stuff, leveling them, adding formas to them and making them steel path ready
