My first time ever seeing Superior as a kid looked close to this, I thought that was how she always looked. I couldn't believe people took boats out there.

I lived on Minnesota Point for a few years. I don't recall the bridge ever being closed due to high waves, but this looked close to doing that.

Well, just did this and no screwdriver was needed. Every single one of these can be done one handed with your thumb. They are all push style catches. The yellow ones have a sliding safty.

That's wild! It's also cool how quickly the waves shrink the moment they get into deeper water beyond the canal.

I love that this fraud is still online. Ramsland is a well proven liar who made up tons of truly stupid claims like over 100% voter turnout in supposed Michigan townships that turned out to be Minnesota townships instead and they also did not have over 100% voter turnout. He then changed his pathetic lie to actual Michigan townships and just made up the turnout numbers. Everything about this guy is fraudulent.

Where (and which one) is the electric connector under the seat that controls the seat belt chime and how is that connector decoupled?
@dhudy263 ай бұрын
I'm not sure which connector is for the belt chime, but this video shows how to disconnect all of the connectors that are under the seat of a 2017 Subaru Outback. You could use a process of elimination, but it would probably be easier to figure it out online first. If your intention is to disable the bothersome seat belt chime (in the event you're foolish enough to not wear a seat belt) there is probably a fuse you could pull to accomplish that. Otherwise this might help.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6HFpKmDnKufra8feature=shared
@mattwendland130426 күн бұрын
It is the small black one and it is a normally open switch, disconnecting will not stop the chime.

Waves, what waves? We live on the shore of the Pacific ocean. Those are not big at all compared to the Pacific ocean. The great lakes appear calm compared to the Pacific ocean. You do not want to be on the Pacific ocean during a storm.

This reminds me of the story that my mom told me of the 3 young men from the same family who went down here to watch the waves. One boy fell in and his brothers tried to save him and they all drowned. Not sure if I got the details right but a coast guardsman died as well trying to save them. It was before I was born so maybe 1964 or so

When you have the wind coming right into the arm it is epic . I have never seen waves that big in Duluth canal . no way for boating in that stuff unless you're coastguard . You'd be dead minutes after hitting the water . Hypothermia , you freeze up like the people on the Titanic . Seawater was 28 degrees Far. Great video , thanks for posting .

I rewatch this vid often. It is a testament to the power of wind and water. Its unbelievable that the piers can survive this kind of pounding with ice to boot. Though this stormy sea is a frightening reality of of the lake, it occurs several times over a year, year after year. I still think this vid is top of the list for best canal intensity of gales.

Did you get there by way of the Maritime Museum, or did you walk through water and ice, up to the perch?

I meandered my way through the ice chunks by the Museum and up the walkway to the perch ;) Didn't have to walk through any deep water.

I can't believe the gates aren't locked up.
@dhudy2610 ай бұрын
They were locked!! The gates busted open moments before I arrived on the museum perch! That's why all the ice chunks were flowing down the sidewalk at about the 30 second mark of the video. I saw the workers suiting up to go out and shut and relock the gates while I was there. See the description of my video for a link to a different video that shows the gates breaking open.

I'm the 30 or so years that I've been going down there during storms, I never seen waves this big. And they didn't last long. I ran home to grab my good camera to get some real good quality footage, and when I got back there 30 minutes later the waves had already died down.

@@dhudy26 Just asking because the Mataafa in her namesake storm had trouble getting in the canal in said storm, and the Armco had a incident at the canal back in the 1980's.
