yes, i just did one on one of these because it was in pieces in bellhousing. Too much play in input shaft caused it for me

With the new turbo cartridge There is oil like your video but Just a little bit less, i dont know why cause this issue

@@hezayt4597 There’s only 3 possible reasons that I know of. Bad PCV vale. Bad Turbo Seals. Over pressurized Turbo feed/drain. I would disconnect the PCV valve and vent it to atmosphere to see if any mist of oil comes out of the charge side of turbo, make sure you don’t let anything come close to the port located on the plastic intake manifold, otherwise it will get sucked in the turbo.

@lionsdejudah hello I have an high oil consumption on my OM642 my PCV is ok (new OEM part) but the problem still here, I have removed the back side turbo exhaust and no oil leak in, no oil leak too in the engine’s exhausts collectors and no oil leak in the back turbo’s helix back side turbo. How can I be sure or check if its the turbo or not please ? (OM642 225 000km 2010 year)

I’m almost for certain it’s your turbo, as I stated before my 2010 Mercedes went through 2 turbos before hitting 165K miles. IDK why they go bad so fast. Perhaps because the stock turbo isn’t cnc machined from a solid billet. The upgraded sprinter turbos are cnc machined from a solid aluminum billet and perhaps it reduces twisting/Flexing when hot. That’s my hypothesis…

@@raimundasrimkus6252 Perhaps it’s definitely a different case with your noise issue. My noise abruptly went away when the sensor was unplugged and after plugging it back in it slowly and all went away completely. Just a thought, what weight/type of oil do you use?

Please refer to Eaton manual clsm0200. Anytime there is a possibility of engine housing damage the runout should be checked. Make sure to lube the cross shaft and use the proper alignment tool when installing a clutch.

All engines produce blow by some produce more than others, too much blow by will overheat the crankcase and the heat will reduce the motor oil thickness and cause premature wear on the crank and rod bearings.

That's what small diesels do. Need to understand, anything you know about petrol engines do not apply to diesel engines.

Problem Solved: Unplug momentarily the “Fuel Quality Mixture Sensor” located on the High Pressure Fuel pump(there are 2 sensors facing the front of the car, it’s the bigger of the 2), start the car for a few seconds then turn off and plug the sensor back in.

Mine does the same, 114k miles, new pcv valve. Is this normal? I got scared when I saw the oil coming out from the oil fill cap because usually , on diesels( at least for semi trucks) that’s a sign that the engine is shot.

The best way to tell if your OM642 engine is bad is have a compression test done, yes it can be done by using the glow plug hole. FYI: Do NOT I mean do not pull anything with this engine. Mercedes instrument cluster engine temperature is lying to you. The displayed temperature is NOT the real/actual temp. I ruined my engine because it overheated on my 09 Gl320 pulling a boat. Also DO NOT using Liqui Moly oil, man o man I tried it for the 1st time and that was the last time, my oil Slugged up thick like you wouldn’t believe.

What year is your suv/etc? I bought a 2011 and it has a shield that prevents oil from splashing out, my 2009 doesn’t have the oil fill port shield.

@@lionsdejudah 2007 Mercedes E320. It’s in great shape. I looked inside the oil fill and noticed the gear drive so it’s normal for oil to come out since the gears are moving the oil.

@@marcelcovaci9922 Nice, I would recommend getting a X60 Car OBD HUD Multi-Function Digital Meter Alarm Speed Water-Temp Gauge Malfunction-Test for 12V OBD-II Standard Vehicles Automotive Display HUD. You can see the REAL coolant temperature in real time. And set an alarm ‼ just in case the engine starts to overheat.

How were you able to rev up the engine with the plastic intake disconnected? Which sensors need to be connected, or which ones disconnected? I tried that in my 2010 ML350 and it wouldn’t rev.

🤔I’m not 100% sure why you can rev your engine with the Air Intake Duct not connected. My MAF sensors were definitely unplugged. If it helps to know, I did have the engine deleted, maybe that’s why.

Шум появляется от привода ТНВД, снятием клемы с этого датчика Вы вызываете ошибку и сброс адаптаций по этому узлу. Это способствует тому, что регулировка происходит менее точно и не вызывает пульсаций на приводе(шестерне) ТНВД. Победить данный эффект на 100% невозможно, звук будет сохраняться.

The noise appears from the injection pump drive; by removing the terminal from this sensor, you cause an error and reset the adaptations for this unit. This ensures that the adjustment occurs less accurately and does not cause pulsations on the injection pump drive (gear). It is impossible to defeat this effect 100%; the sound will be preserved.

We went out a few times in 5-6 foot swells around 5 secs apart and the boat did Good, 2-3 foot swells 3 secs apart were nothing to its design. The only problem was when you stopped in 5-6 foot swells the bow was very unstable, I believe it was due to the manual jack plates or they didn’t help at all.

FYI: Don’t add the Manual Jack Plates, the engines weight and extra stick out makes the boats bow too light.

Hey I think my car makes the same noise although I haven't listened to it with the bonnet open... I too was (and am) afraid of the timing chain but it NEVER rattles on a cold start, not even after 4-5 days of sitting still. I've also checked the tensioner (on earlier versions of om642 you can see it through the oil cap) and it's not extended too far out - that means chain isn't streched. I'll try your trick and see! Although it doesn't make much sense in my head. Why would a sensor cause this noise? And what the hell is this noise actually? Is it from the fuel pump or..?

Idk beats me… no time in my daily agenda to give chase down that rabbit hole…all I know is that it worked unplugging it. And then plugging it back in when it was confirmed to be the source of the noise.

@@lionsdejudah Hey man I just asked what this noise is about on an OM642 facebook group and actually linked your video (mentioned it wasn't mine hope you don't mind) and like 3 people said Uh oh it's the chain, it's streched, yada yada. It doesn't make sense in my head how they say it's streched when there's no rattle on cold start. I still haven't tried your fix but will try it soon and report back. Has the noise come back in your car?

@@alexandrutache3515 hey no problem, thanks… the noise went away almost immediately after unplugging the sensor, but it did make a tiny amount of noise a day or two later but now months later I don’t hear the noise, I never paid any attention once I knew it was the sensor haha…

My clutch forks wiggle as the shaft is spinning. They also make this rock crusher sound... is that normal?

I removed the 2-3/4” NUT with a 1” breaker bar 40” long shaft(from northern tool for $99), the truck was put in reverse and slowly let off the clutch, the yoke turning clockwise broke the nut free. The handle end was placed on the ground… the energy stored and released suddenly is a little loud so be ready for it, the breaker bar and Socket will go flying in opposite directions. So maybe duct tape the socket to the bar and tie the bar somewhere secure.

Hi, I got same clacking sound, when oil cap is opened. Did you changed that sensor or just unplugged and plugged back in?

Turn car off, Unplug the sensor and start the car, the clacking should go away immediately. You can plug the sensor back in whenever afterwards.

Hello. Did you figure this out? I think I'm experiencing something similar, but kine has a higher pitch. Almost like a grinding noise that increases in pitch when you accelerate. It starts around 5 seconds after a cold start and goes away after driving, but comes back intermittently during driving.
