Do you have any more footage of NSC that is the first video I've seen of us. Thanks for posting would love to see more if you have any.
@jeffrice64032 жыл бұрын
I wish I did! I booked NSC at 404 Willis in Detroit back in the early '90s but I don't have any photos or video from that show. I believe I got you onto an MDC show that someone else had already booked at the venue, but I don't have a flyer to confirm that. The reason I have this NSC video is because my friends in the band Current (Detroit) made a very long video of their tour and you were one of the bands they chose to tape. I converted their VHS tapes into digital video files and uploaded a bunch of them here. I also posted a (very dark) video of Rorschach playing that same show with you. Anyway, I really liked the NSC 7" and it was cool to find a live set of yours while combing through old VHS tapes.

Glad some fellow spuds found this. I haven't looked at this video in ages! This was my band's first and only attempt at covering this song that we had heard on the recently (2000 lol) released "Pioneers Who Got Scalped" double CD from Devo. I was reminded of this when I watched Devo's Tiny Desk Concert on NPR yesterday. They played this song for the first time in decades and of course I had to see how well our version held up!

I was at a lot of hardcore shows all over the country in 1993 and this was the norm. People would sit on the floor. Bands mostly didn't play fast. Anything related to '80s hardcore was seen as uncool. It wasn't the best time for shows.
@recklessdeerhunters39692 жыл бұрын
@@jeffrice6403 I don't remember that, Maybe I was on drugs during that time? My band was asked to fill in for the #2 band at a NYHC fest the day before the show back in 2004. We chased all 600 people out of the venue before our 1st song was over. Good Times!!!

Honestly the best cover of this song done by dudes on KZbin. Literally every other male cover of this song sucks. I also LOVE the dedication of dressing up as the cover. Y'all're exactly what I hoped to find. <3

Thanks! We spent a lot of time figuring out how to play it as much like the Go-Go's as we possibly could. Kathy Valentine retweeted our video when we posted it back in 2013, which was the ultimate honor! Honestly the highpoint of my amateur musician career.

Thanks for posting this, The Screamers are a band I've been fascinated by since seeing them here in Toronto on Halloween 1978 at The Horseshoe Tavern. I can't forget them 40 years later, that really says something.

The artist N8NOFACE got me into the screamers. I can see where N8 gets his voice from. This band is amazing. I love N8NOFACE's cover of 122 hours of fear on the hoodstocks podcast.

This is great. The first thing I heard from The Screamers was a set of 77-78 demos and there's an annoying hum that runs through it.
@jeffrice64033 жыл бұрын
I was able to remove that hum with some recording software. It still doesn't sound as good as this stuff but I was able to make it more listenable. I'll upload that hum/hiss-free version one of these days.

Pat Garrett was one of the founding creators of DANGERHOUSE records in LA and also a member of Black Randy's Metrosquad. Dangerhouse produced many of LAs early punk bands first, and in many cases only, singles. This is the closest thing we would get to a true "Studio Album" by the screamers. Even more so than the Geza X in my opinion, which while are good are still very stripped down compared to these. this stuff is important
