Worked in the skincoat/ layup dept. At Doral boats in the early 2000s Had to make molds for components.. A skill that's not taught...it's learned through years and years...no class teaches this.

It looks like Noah's Ark .all that time and effort for a hull that looks like a brick..that's gotta be one of the ugliest hulls I've seen .looks like no engineering evolved. Narrow beam high top heavy .

Unless I missed something...when did you guys remove the framing/wood plug structure? It appears you omitted the process entirely? The video goes from flipping over the entire plug/mold to morphing into a real mold, sans framing structure. What was involved in the removal of the wooden structure, and when was this process done??

There was no footage of this step, but the plug/framing was broken apart and removed by hand after the mold was flipped over.

4 layers 1-1/2oz mat, 2 layers 2415, 1/2” balsa core, 2 layers 2415, stringers/wheels and you’re done, sounds simple right😂

I am building a fiberglass, 1:8 scale Columbia River Gillnetter model and this video has been my bible-thank you! I have just positioned all my stations so I have a long way to go (doing this piece by piece on my social security!😊), but this video gives me hope! Blessings!
