Long-time backcountry primitive camper/hiker/backpacker here, a lot of it in extremely windy mountainous areas--so are many people I know well, including indigenous peoples. Interesting build using what was available, and thanks for sharing with this video. I wanted to comment about what I view as being 1 major shortcoming. There are many better spots to build a shelter in the location where you are building this one other than on an open, unprotected ridge top. We would never build a shelter in such a spot unless we were forced to do so because there was nowhere else available. We always take the most advantage of the terrain itself to control for unpleasant or dangerous environmental conditions. The location you chose gets fried by the sun, scoured by the wind, and so do you. It chills and dehydrates people quickly, gives them windburn, & they can't hear what could be important sounds. It's also a greater lightning hazard than a better spot partially down one of those side canyons that has a flat spot to build upon, & possibly, even a solid overhang or other things to further shelter one from the elements. It is more likely to get hit by heavy hail & hard rain than a more sheltered position. It's also a greater wildfire hazard, because the heavy winds can make sparks that come out of the shelter &/or the stove pipe w/out any spark arrestor fly for long distances & set off dry grasses or brush, or light your shelter on fire. Heavy rain storms that can pound down on unsheltered ridge tops can quickly erode the clay/dirt/grass clods stacked on the sides of the pole walls, causing them to slump or partially/fully fall apart, leaving gaps where wind and rain can enter. A shelter built in a high wind zone is also harder to heat, because the winds make it colder, and they increase drafts that enter through any cracks or holes. Ridge tops tend to be significantly colder at night & hotter during the day than more sheltered spots farther down a side canyon. They're also often not located near any water source. Building a shelter in that location also makes one more visible to potentially hostile people, should any be in the area.
