Hello, I recently purchased a used gen 4 19 and would like to upgrade the slide internal to new parts. Where do you order your parts? I can’t seem to find gen 4 slide parts anywhere
@PhotoCapturedКүн бұрын
@theconvservativeminimalist my top suggestion would be to contact Glock in Smyrna, GA. I sent mine to them for a full check and covered the coin to have various internal slide parts replaced. In total, for shipping and parts, it was around 80ish. TheGlockStore is another great option. Many people dislike them, but I only have good to say for their parts and service. Shipping times can be a bit annoying, but you'll get all orignal components, and it will arrive undamaged.

Hi Tim! Great advice! I too am a believer and part of the security team at my church. I have a Glock 19 mos and I absolutely love it. I’ve fired approximately 1400 rounds through it with only 2 failure to feed ( which was my fault as I was holding it at an odd angle. It took me about 12 yrs. To buy it because I would always choice another type of gun over the Glock, after owning it ( the Glock) I wished I would’ve bought it 12 yrs ago. Turns out the Glock 19 is just the gun for me…. It just works. Prayers for ya

When you say you use the Motor Coat on rifles, how do you employ that exactly? I am picturing soaking a BCG in it but I’m not sure if that’s what you meant. Great video!
@PhotoCaptured26 күн бұрын
@timothycummins2700 excellent question, and apologies for not being clearer while recording. I was going 100% off the cuff. For the BCG I do a breakdown every 500-1K and give them a good cleaning. Winchester white box is kinda messy stuff... (It's probably more than necessary, but I want to make sure it's not going to be too dry and fail to lock-up correctly) Then I warm them up with soapy water and a degreasing soap. Dry everything off really well using rubbing alcohol to speed up the drying process, and just brush all the components down with the oil. Don't leave a heavy coat on anything, that will cause major problems. For the star chamber and barrel I run a soaked patch through, and let everything sit for 10-15min with the oil after my cleaning. Be sure to run a couple dry patches through everything to make sure there isn't going to be a hydraulic pressure buildup. That would not be remotely funny... P.S. since using the Motor Kote product, I've noticed that I rarely have to use harsh cleansers of any sort. I'm not seeing or "feeling" any rough buildup of lead or copper fouling, and I almost get away with just using Hoppes or a little alcohol to clean things because the fouling just doesn't stick. Don't go lax on good and reasonable cleaning practices, I'm just pointing out that I've had a much easier time of it with this oil product. Hope that helps to better explain what I'm doing, and how I achieve the results that I do. That bottle I'm holding up on video is the same one I acquired from the O'Reilly auto parts back in 2012. A "LITTLE" really does go a long ways. (If you use it in your vehicle, follow the instructions on the bottle, and best of luck. I'm sold on using it after pushing multiple big rigs well past the million mile mark with top notch oil, and good maintenance practices.)

How often would you scrub the barrel? How much leading or copper is built up in there over that many rounds? Impressive to say the least. Glocks really are perfected
@PhotoCaptured28 күн бұрын
@Broman-es4sx as meticulous as I am, I don't have a number to give there. I run my nylon brush through the barrel with a little Hoppe's #9 or some Lighter Fluid and then smear a drop of oil on it. If I notice any fouling buildup, then I whip out the bronze brush and copper/lead solvent. Soak the barrel for 10-20 minutes, then run the bronze scrubber through it a few times. Rinse with warm soapy water, and wrap it all up with a drop of oil down the inside of the barrel and swab it. Rub the outside down with the leftover and call it good. I'm fairly certain that part of the reason I don't have the fouling buildup that some get is because of the oil I use. And I also swab the barrel with the nylon bore brush every week or so, even if I'm just carrying and haven't live fired. Any debris clogging the barrel can be a potential for catastrophic failure. I've seen the demos and understand that it takes the right situation, meaning it's super rare, but I prefer to avoid Mr. Murphy of Murphy's Law.

I bought a police trade in g23 gen 3 with a little less slide wear but the barrel finish is so freaking worn I should probably start changing internals lol.
@PhotoCaptured29 күн бұрын
@jibletjibletstein8040 the visual finish of the Gen3 pistols tended to look better in the long run, and didn't take the beating so seriously. The metal finish on both the Gen3 and the Gen4 is really solid, but the Gen4 esthetic finish definitely wears a little worse than some. There are some great videos floating around about how to check your springs and locking block. If in doubt, just change them all and be confident that you're piece is ready to go. Those PD trade-ins are usually good to go.

@ so make another video like u just did with a click bait title proven the guns been carried and not shot 60k times? The smile on the barrel alone is about 100 dry fires worth of wear. That’s the perfect way to stay with a low view count making the same videos as everybody else with no real new information. You’re video doesn’t prove what ur title says or that it’s been ran 60k+ rounds It’s the same as all these KZbinrs getting a free gun and instantly saying they put 1000+ rounds before the video and 9/10 that’s not the case

@timblack13129 күн бұрын
@@FirstLast-ff7qx I went down a whole rabbit hole and have a separate bag of spare parts for the g19 now. So my fix was finding a specific extractor and ejector combo. They're rare but if you can find the older non lci extractors that are cast and not mim'd. (be sure to get the non-lci extractor edp and spring). If you're unable to find one, I've read that people have had luck with the Apex tactical extractor too. Now, the ejector is what I think is the main culprit, the one you want has the numbers 47021 printed on it, you might have to buy the whole housing to get it but it'd be worth it. After replacing those in mine, ejection has been 99% consistently to the 2-4 o'clock position. Hope this helps. Brian Enos forums has good information as well.
@timblack1318 күн бұрын
Just doing a follow up, we're you able to see my comments? If not, long story short, the ejector and extractor were the main issues. Replace the ejector (you want one that reads 47021) first since the older non lci extractors are uncommon. Hope this helps. @@FirstLast-ff7qx

Love this video thank you for being a voice of reason and responsibility in the consumerism focused gun industry! Thank you so much and Im certainly sold on having a g19 as my main gun. Hope you had a nice Christmas with you family and hope you have a great new year as well.
@PhotoCapturedАй бұрын
@gabrielshouse6142 Hey, a fellow details oriented individual! It's a 3:1 ratio on the Motor Kote product - 3 parts Lucas Gun Oil and 1 part Motor Kote. It's way more than necessary, but my longevity of use speaks to the practice, so there's that. I actually just uploaded another rambling video on the subject of basic maintenance. It's definitely not my best moment, and could have been better, but it's a start... For day to day cleaning, I use Hoppe's 9 or lighter fluid, both of which won't melt the polymer components of a pistol. If there's major copper/brass fouling, then I use Gun Scrubber and keep it AWAY from the polymer. It won't necessarily melt it, but I've seen polymer frames weakened by the use of that stuff. Christmas was phenomenal! Great time at my brother's place with our parents and one of my uncles, then followed it up with a good visit at my Pastor's home with a great friend from San Diego visiting. Tomorrow we'll be with friends who are more like family in the Denver metro area for New Year ring in! Thankful I can take work with me and enjoy these great times of fellowship.
