Nice. Unless you live somewhere really dangerous carrying mags is excessive burden. I keep it simple 22lr 8 shot snubby 43c model. It’s just so easy pocket carry or AIWB. Also carry 8 shot snubby IWB 357mag 327PC If you want to carry mags highly recommend Vertx EDC jeans defiance model. Most of us will never need to shoot our gun. It’s an insurance policy.

Excellent video, thanks for it. I’m early in my firearms/self-defense journey. And I’m tired of the constant pressure to buy the latest wonder gun. Videos like this give me inspiration to commit to one gun that works for me and to forget the rest. Comes down to the 43X and G26, both excellent in their own ways and I struggle to decide which i should dedicate my time and money and energy to mastery.
@PhotoCaptured
@PhotoCaptured 5 күн бұрын
@chasedooley6237 glad to have made a positive confirmation for you, I appreciate the nod. I can't tell you what's going to be right for your use case. It's quite personal, and you're the one that needs to like the end result. Personally, I'd choose the Glock 26, which I do keep around because I got a really good deal on it. In my hands, the slimline 43 series offerings are just not a good choice, and weren't available back when I got my G26 10yrs ago. The overall design of the G26 tends to be much easier for me to manage recoil, and get a firm grip on in general. I appreciate the magazine flexibility, while also having a pistol that is reasonable for my body size and pants to pocket carry. A 43x just isn't going in a pocket, and the slimline design is obnoxious for me to keep on target well. Always, always, try and rent a piece so you can really work with it, and make a determination that's good for you. The recoil on a 43x isn't bad by any means, but I find it to be punchier than the G26 due to the narrow frame. This matters when it comes to personal preference, but also when managing follow-up on target. The G26 is essentially 100% with a 30yr track record, a plethora of aftermarket support, and considerably more consistent with whatever ammo you feed it. The 43x can be modded, Shield Arms magazines, and all sorts of extras... Cool. The G26 is designed from the get-go to work with all double stack 9mm Glock mags, and does so perfectly. That reliability cannot be said for S15 mags. Get a really good G19 holster like the Tenicor Velo4 and use it for the G26, that thing will disappear on pretty much anyone. That's my input, and I hope it helps you well! Cheers and best wishes on making your choice.

@@PhotoCaptured Appreciate the response! I already own both, but I agree with you about them. I like my 43X because of how it feels in my hand, very natural, and it’s really light and comfortable to carry. I’m also really fast out of concealment with it, draw to first shot in just less than a second. But my 26 shoots so much better, more versatile, more concealable. I have a Certum 3 for my 19 that I haven’t tried with my 26; I will though! Thanks again, be safe and train hard!

Same here. Been carrying the gen 3 G19 for about the same time. I've toyed with the Sig x Macro, but now leaning to the Glock 29 SF. It still runs great, probably 15k rounds, just one barrel spring replacement. What exactly do you mean the sear was unsafe?

The edge of the sear was literally rounded off and would slip before a full trigger press was achieved. The G29 is excellent, I used to have one and let it go when I was strapped for green. Ended up getting a G20 to replace it.

Could you do a breakdown of all the springs/parts you replaced over the lifespan of this gun? Maybe elaborate on if you were changing things out preemptively or after they broke. After that many rounds, did you notice and recurring weak spots or parts breakages? Thanks for this video, I found it really fascinating.
@PhotoCaptured
@PhotoCaptured 21 күн бұрын
@Bakercakes77 thanks for this excellent question. I have addressed it elsewhere. However, I am happy to share again! The RSA I just repalce every 5-6k or whenever the pistol does not return to battery with a full magazine and attempting to chamber a round with it pointed straight up. (Gen3 or below should be every 3k, otherwise you risk battering the frame.) Trigger return spring was replaced around the 10-12k mark due to catastrophic failure. Since then, I just replaced it every 8k. The striker spring I replaced at each 20K mark after a streak of light primer strikes after the 30k mark. It can take a lot, but I want it to work reliably. The locking block I replaced at 40k based on a trusted recommendation. There is risk of stress failure, micro fractures, and even a catastrophic breakdown. Rather than risk the slide to face result, I chose to replace it. I have since sent it off to Glock Smyrna for analysis and opinion. No word back as of yet, other than that it is received and being looked at. All push pins get replaced every 10k. In total less than 100 beans to upkeep the pistol, the rest has been ammo related, and that's come out to about 16k over the last decade and a half. Even if it failed tomorrow, I've more than gotten my value out if it.

@elyperez9885 I'm going to be doing an in depth demo of the various belts I've used over the last decade. Top three: Tenicor ZERO unless you need it to be acceptable for showing. Blue Alpha Gear Basics, again concealed only. (I knock this one a bit because of the velcro...) Kore Essentials EDC in your preffered color or leather. Great for dressy occasions, or if you're carrying OWB. Kinda sucks for appendix carry though, because the buckle is WAY over engineered. The ZERO is a truly game-changing belt, and I'm just one of many saying it's SOLID. Go through your pants, select the ones that fit the most comfortably, not the ones you like how you look the best... comfort. Look at the waist size of those pants and order your ZERO Belt accordingly. I wear a 34x36 in Wrangler, and Levi's so ordered a 34 belt, I have almost too much extra tail, but it tucks away just fine. If anything I might have chosen a 32 belt, but the pant size is your safest bet, and make use of the 30 day no questions exchange if needed. The guys over at Tenicor will always take care of their customers.

@@PhotoCaptured DUDE, I appreciate the advice! As far as holsters, it seems like you also really dig the VELO. Hopefully this week I'll be giving them a try. Have you tried or considered some of the other IWB tenicor holsters?
@PhotoCaptured
@PhotoCaptured 20 күн бұрын
@elyperez9885 happy to help man, get sound advice, and then play a little trial and error. If you're starting with good stuff, you are going to have a much easier time. My wife is a brilliant musician and can play a flute or piano very well, but she also knows how to work with the "lesser" stuff. A basic keyboard, or poorly tuned piano, even a cheap flute. But it's far easier for her to use something that's good, and focus on the music rather than the instrument. Belts and holsters are kind of the same. I have my preferences now, and yes, Tenicor is my go-to. I've used the Certum3 series and have a couple. They are quite excellent for what they are, but because appendix carry is my primary method no matter the dress attire, I tend to select the VELO4 most of the time. The Certum series has the benefit of being able to flex into other carry positions, such as behind the hip, or off centerline. The Velo is basically appendix only. The Tier1 holsters are also well regarded for good reason, but if you go that route I recommend selecting from their basic holster options. The sidecar has been surpassed in comfort and reliability, but some people still like them. PHlster is another superb option, and Harry's Holsters is right there, along with Dark Star Gear. Preference is individual, and subjective. Quality makers that are incorporating well thought out designs for durability, reliability, and comfort will make a huge difference. Carrying with a cruddy holster really is unpleasant. Hope that helps, and please! Joing the PHLster Concealment Workshop on Facebook. It is truly an invaluable tool. If you don't have Facebook or don't like the format, then check out their videos here on KZbin.

At some point, I'll do a Gen5 with an optic though, it's a nice piece of kit, but not something I have to have. If you're on the fence, it's definitely worthwhile. High-level irons shooters will definitely benefit from an optic. New shooters can do really well with them, but they can also encourage some bad habits.
