owned, still play, *not* forgotten: Space Engineers. Empyrion. Avorion. owned, will probably pick up again: Evochron Legacy, Void Destroyer 2 Space Engineers averages I think well over 5000 players at a time on Steam, I don't think that qualifies as "forgotten".

Female protagonists are fine, as long as they have depth, and are well written, and aren't simply some girl-boss, who's little more than some chad, but with female anatomy...

Darkstar one excellent game. Runs fine on modern PC. Can't fault it.

I hated Lords of the Realm 2 so much as a Kid that I couldn't stop playing it and only to realize now as an adult that I loved LotR 2

There is even a nice Babylon 5 mod for independence war 2... Or was is it a own tech demo..... I can't remember...

independance war 2 ... man finaly someone placing this ... i remember it very well, was really cool space piracy game ... and with moddings ... was even better and its a shame they didnt made any newly games after this one

I still play Master of Orion every so often. I love its aesthetics and particulary like the landgrab part of the game. Kind of wish there could be a game that would focus on the colonization and terraforming of planets.

Nexus is simply phenomenal. Made with love and you can feel the mystery through the musical score as it unfolds.

Pity you did not mention Galaxy on Fire 2, it is available on Steam but largely forgotten.

Few of these are really awesome and impressive, but i rather preffer a more peaceful space game where the most gameplay is not destroying eachother's spaceships and instead focusing on gathering minerals/other space materials and finding planets to live and populate.

Nice video! Rookie here! Question! Bought the Early Access game. On Steam.But when you open the game. Can't even play the Missions,Campaign games. Buttons.Play,load.Remain dark. How to play the missions. That you see everywhere on KZbin? Encyclopedia does work. Or do you have to first enter all ships, planes, etc. yourself in that Editor? And then load the game? To be able to play a mission?

It's good to see a video that is positive about space sims. I saw a comment on Subnautica, and though it's my fav game of all time, I don't think it fits the sim genre. The comments are also mostly positive, though ofc mention that you like something about SC and haters will crawl out of the woodwork as if summoned. This vid reminded me I still need to pick up Everspace 2, so thanks for that!

Empyrion is a good game as a base game but it really shines with the workshop scenarios - everything from simple addons to complete overhauls.

I had a lot of fun with Helium Rain. Until i reached the point where i'm supposed to program the AI ships, and that's where i lost all interest. The GUI for setting up those is just... just awful. And i mean, more counterproductive and unwieldy than X series has. So that's where i left it. Sadly, because otherwise it's nice little game.
