I've sunk more than 1K hours into this game. Needless to say it has endless replayability. The game is not for everyone though, as the storyline is terrible. You have to play the game with the Reforged Eden mod/scenario, and version 2 is nearly finished. It is literally one of the most ambitious mods ever created. You can spend hours building massive ships, or simply download blueprints, with 1000s of option available from a very creative community. There are many factions, and you can either befriend them or go to war with them. Trading is a thing, and what you mine, you can buy and trade. Biological horrors can be found in certain abandoned bases and ships, and I've had a lot of jump scares. The gunplay, animations etc. are terrible, but it is the most ambitious game I've ever come across, which means there will be trade-offs for a polished experience. Be warned, as a result the learning curve is very steep, but there are dedicated KZbinrs like Spanj with endless content to learn from.

It's simply one of the very best games ever made by anyone. While the visuals as you see them in a video may look weird, the experience is very different the moment you are invested. It's the ship(s) you've built that's on the line and that can be completely destroyed. Another aspect that few ever address is how perfectly the game is balanced across the immense range of ways to play the game, build vehicles, bases and ships. Are there flaws and bugs? Yup, but I yet have to encounter one that's a deal breaker.

everything is better with Reforged Eden 2, improved story, better building, better guns:) RE2 is a collaboration from 2 modders. RE2 combines Reforged Galaxy with Project Eden. Even though RE2 is at beta stage it is still hugely better than vanilla. And did i say RE2 is FREE.

I was playing this with a friend a few years ago. Initially we were having fun building stuff, but then we ran into a critical issue that really let us down. We spent a long time building a light freighter type ship, not a capital ship, just something big enough for the both of us. We took off, all was good, but then when either of us tried walking around the ship while it was in flight, we clipped through the floor. It was super disappointing. We wanted an experience like flying the Millennium Falcon - someone flies, while the other runs over to the reactor, or weapons, or wherever repairs we were needed. We could look past all the other weird bugs, graphics, UI, that's literally the one thing we were eager to do, so it was a huge bummer. This was a couple of years ago, does anyone know if that has been fixed yet? I'd gladly jump back in if so.

Actually, you can't walk on a flying and manuevering vessel without proper inertial-dampening field and it's no such technology in the game. In reality, it's a game engine's restriction, but we have so-called Logistics System, aka Wi-Fi, it allows you to enter containersand access constructors and some other devices mid flight. You can even eat from your fridge with this system )

Don't worry about learning, there are in-game tutorials and Empyrionpedia for help. Also, Reforged Eden 2, a very sophisticated and wast mod/scenario, has it's own tutorials, and it is somehow less bugged than vanilla game. This is incredible!

I am currently doing a series where I Invade the Zirax Homeworld. (The main enemy) Over 3200 hours I've put into this game. The Dark Faction DLC was very hyped up. Wasn't exactly what we hoped. Reforged Eden 2 scenario on steam gives you tons of new planets stars and missions and enemy's to fight. Empyrion is my favorite game :)

I have 2k hours and this game is a survival like ark survival evolved/ascended but with spaceships, you can build everything and also let others download your projects. the only downside is that the game need time to learn it, the animations are very bad and the resources gathering can be boring in long therm. But this game is the best multiplayer dedicated servers space survival game in the market right now and there are a lot of guides about like spanj to learn it!

The Reforged Eden (2) scenario is VITAL. Increases the game contents tenfold. And it's free. Rating the game based on the vanilla scenario is like rating a pasta dish with ONLY the spaghetti on the plate. :)

It's one of the best Space games ever. But you have to play it with a scenario like Reforged Eden. The Vanilla Game is boring after around 50-100 hours. But most players playing Reforged Eden looking back on thousends of hours like myself. The beginning is a bit hard, the game is not nice and often not self explaining to new players. So hop on to a nice multiplayer server with a good community. If you find your servers community toxic, switch servers. Most server communitys are very nice and helpful.

Now you have to follow this big long story bs, and if you do it on an online server certain things arent there anymore since its online and another player did i, and you play for hundreds of hours before you even get an SV.

I can somewhat live with shitty animations and graphics and I was always kinda lucky with the bugs but what stops me from playing too much is that proper Multicrew doesnt work in this game. I can build a big ship with friends but all of them have to sit in seats and navigate functions like fabricators and turrets via the interface. You cannot walk around the ship while its flying unlike in games like Void Crew or Star Citizen which is a big no in my opinion. You have to stop the ship from moving just to get out of your seat and walk around, thats kinda shit

I've had this game since 2016, and more hours on it then i'll admit to. 99 percent of it is solo play. I dabbled with mulitplayer and was not a great experience performance wise. It was not intended for solo play and it should have been from the beginning, and thats where the game falls well short of the mark. The developers never focused on AI and they should have. I have been chasing the potential for years and it never panned out. The fcous was always going to be on multiplayer and it just can't do it. Its awesome to be able to get out of the drivers seat of your capital ship and go to any part of it that YOU made. Not prebuilt but something you designed and created. That for me was the biggest draw. But there is a lot of grind if you plan to do any amount of space combat. A lot. Ammo itself it extremely expensive. Frankly without mods the game can get stale real fast but on the downside, a mod like reforged eden adds a lot to the game but increase the grinding to a ridiculous level. If you can grabe it for free or at a really good price its neat to tinker with ship design and exploring for a bit before that gets repetive and stale. The AI will not keep you interested

Naw, totally different gameplay scope and neither of them were first in the market. There is voxel based mining underground and through asteroids, using tools, drones, custome hover crafts, ships and auto miners. Let alone the content in Reforged Eden. SE does what it does well, but its an engineering sim. EGS is a full game with its own strengths and flaws.

Technically, it's not a mod, it's an in-game scenario. You can install it manually just by putting it's stuff into the right directory. No altering of original game files needed and you can play vanilla and RE simultaniously.

@@Boritis The issue isn't the mod files themselves, the issue is that Valve set arbitrary restrictions on the Steam Workshop, preventing you from accessing anything you don't own via Steam. A lot of modders don't bother uploading elsewhere therefore non-Steam players end up getting left out. There used to be ways around it but Valve have actively shut all these other ways down.

Without playing Reforged Eden on a community server, you can't truely get a taste for why this game is so well loved by so many people. SE doesn't have a fraction of this game's scope. NMS looks pretty and I do appreciate it for what it is; however, without this games building and combat it just feels pointless and empty in comparison. Not for people looking for a quick fix. Nothing better for those who want a serious space game.

Quest system is one of the worst i've ever seen. They're all over the place and unclear. I find myself on youtube every time i accept one because they're just not clear, there are no markers for many of them and overall just TLDR and boring. Lighting is so bugged out that it should have a huge epilepsy warning on the main menu. Ergonomics in the game is non existent - instead of putting groups and individiual devices and stuff on toolbar ( like literally all games in the genre) which would be logical and comfy, you have to manually click literally every single little thing that is very annoying/unnecessary and causeless. Why'd be a toolbar there if you can't use it, you have to manually shut down thrusters in the P menu every time? Pointless.This Game needs a couple of years till it'll be somewhat of a product imho
