+Ramin Classy Many POS system will provide you with the product sales data through a sales report or sales mix report. If you want to do this manual, for example on Excel, you can recreate the sales mix report manually, or even better do it on a Menu Engineering spreadsheet, which will provide you with more data to make decisions about your menu.

How did you get the $1.20 cost amount for the hamburger? They're several different components on the hamburger? How did you break it all down to get $1.20?

The $1.20 is just an example. It's a theoretical cost, but if you're doing this for real (in the industry) you can use a tool called a cost card to help you break down the cost of the burger (or any recipe) down to a cost per portion. It's an excellent tool. FYI there are some major fastfood chains that are able to produce a cheese burger on their value menu for less than $0.25.
