Yeah in the end you get what you pay for. That’s the thing with cheap to mid-tear guitars, the defect probability rises. I know it sucks and people don’t like to be that customer- but return and exchange would have been probably the best decision, they possibly would have made sure they sent you a working guitar, yeah you will wait a little longer but it’s better than never playing it because it sucks IMO.

I love your channel name! ❤ Two days ago I bought my first Floyd Rose guitar and this exact one except mine is blue. Also NEVER touched a whammy bar before either and man is it crazy! I'm excited to watch this video and see what you have to say about this amazing guitar and I agree that it's the most comfortable guitar I've also ever played and now it will be getting more attention than my Schecter Hellraiser C-1.

it's because you are using the wrong wrench. These used a proprietary Peavey truss rod wrench that is completely different from what you are using.

You don't need thicker strings for drop tunings. Derek from suffocation plays in low tunings, c#, and he uses lighter gauge strings. As long as you intonate your instrument and adjust the truss rod for tension properly, it doesn't matter

This look like the original speed knobs (depending on the year). Peavey may still have a database in their website where you can look up the year using the SN. If not, Talkbass probably still has it.

I have the exact same bass. The paint is good so not sure what happened there. It is original and I bought it myself, brand new, in the 80's and still have the receipt. I will have to find it and tell you what year that is. It cost me $800 then and the knobs are original and the fretboard on mine is also rosewood. Mine is still in the original Peavey custom made hard shell case that has seen better days but still protects the bass well. Let me know if you (or anyone) would like me to post the year and other information. I am thinking about selling all of my instruments so this one might be for sale soon.
