Hello. We are in process of submit the first applications to be FDA- approved but the formalities are taking longer than expected, so the Pectus Up might be available there in about one year. But many patients are travelling to Mexico or Colombia to be operated on there. In some cases, the Pectus Up is suitable for a failed previous technique, but each patient is unique and he/she must be assessed by a thoracic surgeon specialised in Pectus Excavatum.

Hello. It depends on every particular case. So far, the oldest patient operated on with this technique is a 46 year-old woman. She underwent the procedure last summer and she is recovering very well. But as we said, each patient is different, since not all Pectus Excavatum are surgically treatable and not all techniques are suitable for everyone. The approach of the treatment with this kind of silicone implants is to fill the space between sternum and pectorals with the silicone material to obtain a better aesthetic result, without modifying the deformity underneath. If there are physiological constraints such as lack of breath or cardia issues caused by the Pectus Excavatum deformity they won't be solved with this kind of treatment. The rest of the surgical techniques, including ours, modify the thoracic cage structure by correction the Pectus Excavatum deformity thus also improving the values of breathing and cardiac issues.

The Pectus Up technique is available in France. In some cases, it has been used to fix relapses of cases treated with Nuss or Ravitch techniques, so the Pectus Up procedure can be a surgical indication after a failure in treatment with a Nuss bar indeed. Hola Rumba Junior. No todos los casos de Pectus Excavatum se tratan quirúrgicamente y, en aquellos que sí, no todas las técnicas son adecuadas. El Pectus Up es un implante que requiere una intervención poco invasiva, es extratorácico y que conlleva un periodo de recuperación mucho más corto que otras técnicas como Nuss o Ravitch. Para determinar cuándo un paciente es apto para esta técnica, se deben dar una serie de características (índice de Haller >3,25, progresión de la deformidad....) y será el cirujano especializado quien determine si el procedimiento sirve o no para su paciente. @@gloriaadios1754 La edad ideal es la adolescencia, pero con la evolución del implante y de la técnica a lo largo de los años, se ha operado a pacientes de más de 40 años con buenos resultados. Pero la idoneidad para ser intervenido con el Pectus Up no solo depende de la edad, sino de otros factores como la rigidez torácica, la asimetría, el nivel de hundimiento, etc. El cirujano es quien determina cuándo un paciente puede operarse con esta técnica o no.
